Featured Artist 1 - Fashion / Boudoir / Fine Art photography

06:34
Ed Gregory looks at his first ever featured artist from http://www.photosincolor.com/featured-artist-1-john-dunnigan/ Check out this great fine art, nude, fashion photographer www.johnpdunnigan.com John Dunnigan is a Fine Art photographer from Baltimore who's journey into the world of photography has allowed him to create some beautiful evocative concepts. We are excited to Feature his work and gain a little insight into how he makes his art. I've always been interested in photography, ever since I was a boy. I didn't start taking it seriously until about 4 or 5 years ago, though. Earlier in my life I took what could be considered the "normal" path... Meaning college (undergraduate as well as graduate) and then regular job after regular job (by the way, I still have a "regular" job). Somehow, though, it seemed that I was always called back to exploring my creativity, whether it was acting, writing, drawing or painting. At some point, I'm not really sure how, I began to explore photography again. Since I am such a visual person it just seemed to fit. Most of my work (I concentrate on fashion, boudoir, and fine art female) involves women. Women to me, as far back as I can remember, are the most beautiful of all of God's creations. I enjoy capturing that beauty, that wonder, while admittedly attempting to invoke emotion in some of my work. I love working as a team, whether it be just myself and the model, or a team that includes makeup artists, hairstylists and/or designers. The collaboration with other creatives can be terribly invigorating. Currently, I find myself moving more and more toward the fine art side of expression, but with a mix of fashion. Sometimes it will start with just an object or piece of clothing that I build ideas around. Other times it might be an idea that just comes to me, or a suggestion from a model, makeup artist or designer. Then I add pieces to the puzzle. I'm constantly looking through magazines (both print and online) for inspiration. I also really enjoy creating my own sets, to the point where I turn my apartment into a tiny stage. There are many times when ideas strike me during a shoot... I'll have a general idea beforehand, but it'll grow once we start shooting and exploring. Equipment: Camera: Canon 5D MKII Lenses: 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 50mm and 85mm Lights: Aliens Bees + LOTS of natural light Modifiers: Octabox, softbox, grids, beauty dish All photos used with permission from John Dunnigam Check out his other work and keep up to date with his most recent project here. Летний макияж для фото видео. Art fashion summer makeup by Olga Malahit.

Cindy Sherman: Fashion | Art21 "Extended Play"

03:13
Episode #143: Commissioned by French Vogue to create a fashion editorial featuring clothes from the Spanish design house Balenciaga, artist Cindy Sherman discusses the first time she used a digital camera to make pictures, ultimately creating different versions of images for the magazine and for herself. In self-reflexive photographs and films, Cindy Sherman invents myriad guises, metamorphosing from Hollywood starlet to clown to society matron. Often with the simplest of means—a camera, a wig, makeup, an outfit—Sherman fashions ambiguous but memorable characters that suggest complex lives lived out of frame. Shermans investigations have a compelling relationship to public images, from kitsch (film stills and centerfolds) to art history (Old Masters and Surrealism) to green-screen technology and the latest advances in digital photography. "Welcome to my world" Armin Morbach, fine art fashion | Phase One

07:15
Follow multi-talented photographer Armin Morbach on a creative shoot in his Hamburg studio while he shares his take on fashion art photography. Try Phase One: http://www.phaseone.com/demo Download Capture One: http://www.phaseone.com/download I am Armin Morbach. I am a photographer, an artist, a hairdresser and an editor-in-chief. Welcome to my world! This is Tush magazine and all the big secrets are happening here. Tush magazine started because I was fed up with stupid editors telling me what to do. That someone who never had a brush in their hands and never put a lipstick on told me what's trendy and what's not trendy. I said f*** it. I'll do my own. I called all my friends, all photographers. I called all the big models. Claudia Schiffer was on the cover. That's how it started. It's different because we concentrate on accessories, on beauty, on art photography. She is going to wear this top, she will be nude here but she will wear a string and I'll tape her to the floor on a glass plate. I always wanted to build a chair out of a woman's body but I can't do that myself so it may be better to do it in the picture. I want to get the position as low so that it looks like she is the chair but has no head. I was a hairdresser and one day a photographer didn't show up. Everything was dead so I took the camera and it just started. Twenty years next to the camera, it was just a little step to be behind the camera. I want to create my own way of seeing it because when you do hair for hours and the photographer clicks at the wrong moment, it pisses me off. I like to play with contrast where you don't know whether it is a man or a woman, where does this leg come from, why they used a garbage bag. It's hard to describe my own look because it's not pretty, it's not glamorous, but it has a certain style. Everything you see in my pictures is a part of me. Maybe it's hidden, maybe it's obvious, and maybe if I do glamorous hair it is very obvious I love that. It's something fetish and something I think looks cool, but it always has something to do with my personality. I did about 18 shots. That's enough. That's a lot for me. If I take a lot of pictures I take 20 but I think if you don't have it by the first 5, you will never get it. I have worked with photographers that do 400 and trust me; they always go with the first shots. I love to shoot in computer because I want to see exactly how it looks and if my vision is shown on the computer. I want those things that are glued on to look three-dimensional. I gave the idea to the makeup department and it came out like this today. You don't know if it is someone real or something fake and I like that. This is when art starts. Art starts when some people like it and some people don't. Then it becomes interesting. If you look through a magazine and you stop at this picture, it works. This catches you. If not mentally, then because you think it is sick. I started taking pictures not more than five years ago. Two years ago, one of the big collectors in Germany called and said: "I want to buy your art". This opened a door for me. I never thought that I would be an artist. This day changed my life. I could do whatever I wanted and it's good. I use Kino Flo and flashing for a short time so I get this effect on the picture. I was not happy when she walked on set but now I'm happy because she looks like a voodoo doll. I use the 35mm because this particular picture needs something weirder even though it's weird already. I love to work with the 50mm and 35mm. My favorite one is this one, the 120mm. Because everyone looks pretty I think. The 80mm I'm not a big fan of because everything gets really boring, but I like the 50mm because legs get longer and faces get strange. My new 35mm I like because it is something of a 60's lens because it was used a lot in this time. I'm very friendly but people know exactly when to stop. I can make jokes, I can be funny but when it comes to the picture, it's my decision. The little cameras drive me nuts because you go click-click-click and that's not my way of working. I'm very concentrated when I work. I look for the frame, I have the picture in my mind and I just click. Everyone who works for galleries say that we have to work in a bigger format otherwise it gets grainy. But that's not my style. Even if it's 2,50 high, I want to see every detail. I think everyone who sees this picture will laugh and that's exactly what I like about the picture. It's croissants, it's cookies, it's a cup of tea on a table cloth. In ten years I maybe want to open an organic bakery, maybe something else. I won't be a photographer for the rest of my life. This was my day. You saw enough of my secrets and I'll say bye-bye, Auf Wiedersehen, goodbye!

FTV Presents The Black Tape Project at LAFW S/S 19 Art Hearts Fashion | FashionTV | FTV

LOS ANGELES - I’m a Cuban American first generation, born and raised in Miami. In 2008 I was lucky to find a box hidden in my late grandfather’s house with a substantial amount of money. After many years of what I considered “the thought era” in my life, I quickly put the funds to work in hopes to correct my debts and life. With the last of the money I purchased a camera and 9 years later here I am. A self-taught photographer, artist, and entrepreneur. I’ve managed to make a business off of my ideas and concepts for almost a decade. I’m the creator of the Black Tape Project, founder of Paradise Challenge and Destination Cover both all-inclusive destination photo shoots. Because of my concepts I’ve been able to travel to over 30 countries and counting, I’ve been published in countless magazines, worked with directors like Michael Bay and recording artists like Rick Ross and some of the top dogs in the world. In 2008 I was an rookie photographer and I was working with a model that had suggested I tape her for the last look, I truly had no idea why she would want this but I tried to make her happy and attempted to use tape as wardrobe. Mind you she looked like 2 Christmas hams wrapped in rubber bands when I was done, I’d never show you these images! It sparked an idea in my head, the following weeks I asked a few models to let me practice on them and the designs started to evolve. 50 Amazing Fashion Photographs From Between the 1930s and 1950s

07:46
As a staff photographer for Harper’s Bazaar, Louise Dahl-Wolfe introduced a witty naturalism to the staid conventions of fashion photography and helped pioneer the use of color film. After studying painting, figure drawing, and design at the San Francisco Institute of Art, Dahl-Wolfe began experimenting with photography in 1921, inspired by Anne Brigman’s photographs. In 1928, Dahl-Wolfe married American sculptor Meyer (Mike) Wolfe and soon established herself as a professional photographer. Dahl-Wolfe often juxtaposed her models with famous works of art, resulting in surprising and irreverent compositions. Fashion assignments led her to locations around the world, where she posed her models outdoors, in natural light. Throughout this period, Dahl-Wolfe also created striking portrait photographs of society figures and art world celebrities, including authors Carson McCullers and Colette, designer Christian Dior, and sculptor Isamu Noguchi.

She earned a BFA in design and art history from the University of Michigan. Discover more at http://www.captureyourflag.com/ Follow us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/captureyourflag Like us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/captureyourflag Transcript: Erik Michielsen: What has taking direction as a stylist taught you about giving direction as an art director? Lulu Chen: Well, I was lucky enough to work with a lot of different art directors. And if I had been an art director coming up the ranks, just as an art director, I think I would’ve been limited to how many different approaches and different people that I could’ve worked with, so I was very lucky and I worked with a lot of really talented art directors and creative directors. And what I learned from them is some really great ways on prepping jobs, how their approach was, how they communicate, and then not to sound negative but also what not to do. So, you know, all the things to do and strive for, and then some of the things that maybe, you know, I should try not to do. So my take away from that is that organization is really helpful. And sometimes it’s hard because you’re wearing the creative hat, but you really have to get things done in a timely manner, you know, there’s always deadlines. And there’s a lot of money at stake, you know, photo shoots are expensive, you have to get certain things done in a day or two days, and it’s a lot of pressure, to see how other people handle that, to see how people communicate well—actually, how they also motivated and inspired their teams, was really nice to see. So I did learn a lot as a stylist. I was able to observe. Erik Michielsen: And so now you’re on the other side of the fence. Lulu Chen: Oh, definitely. I definitely try and keep all those things in mind, you know, all the things that worked for me, or that I really appreciated, and I try and do that as well. But it’s funny because a lot of people tell me that I’m so nice, and—which you’d think is a compliment but sometimes I am like, “Did they not think it’s genuine?” Because I like someone speaking to me in a certain way so I’m going to try and speak to everyone else in that tone, you know. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not gonna be able to get my job done, you know. But I think it’s always nicer to talk to people in a nice way, right? Yeah, it’s like I don’t have—I don’t wanna go there unless I really have to.

SWEET DREAMS -- Annie Lennox / Eurythmics -- Fashion Art Photography & Music Video Collage

02:30
In the worlds of High Fashion, Fashion Advertising and Art Photography, there are some incredibly breathtaking & inspiring works that are being created out there. Some of the advertising photo spreads you find in magazines like Vogue are like visually striking works of art in my opinion. This video is a fashion art photography & music video collage I edited together for fun as an experiment to see if I could create a bit of a surrealistic landscape molding these pictures into a moving collage. Besides the fashion ad photos, there are also a lot of art photos (in the classic sense) present in this video, which I used because I thought they were equally interesting & striking and matched well with feeling of the other pictures. All of the amazing art photos I use in this video are the works of others, and when I was gathering together material for this project, I wish I would have taken the time to try and find out the names of the amazing photographers and artists who created these works so that I could properly recognize them here. The song I edited the video to is the ultra-classic, synth-pop masterpiece "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics. That song just works incredibly well stylistically with look of high fashion and the feeling of dark surrealism, and Annie Lennox's voice is just an incredible counterpoint to the dark lyrics of the song and of the pictures. I edited this primarily using the iMovie app, with a little help using Flipagram to create the rapid fire montage that opens & closes the video. This was a lot of fun to create! I hope you enjoy! --DA
