How Far Can A Sneeze Travel?

03:05
How far can your germs travel in sneezes? Turns out, it’s not just about the biggest droplets, but also the smaller ones that stay in the air. The cloud of exhaled air that comes out of your mouth when you sneeze can potentially travel farther and wider than previously expected. Read more from the Bourouiba Research Group here: https://lbourouiba.mit.edu/ ------------------------------------------------------ #Sneezes #Flu #ScienceInsider Science Insider tells you all you need to know about science: space, medicine, biotech, physiology, and more. Following is a transcript of the video: Achoo! Are you sick? Don't you dare sneeze on me! Do you know how far your germs can travel? Normally, you hold about half a liter of fluid in your lungs. So when you sneeze, you’re able to spray as much as a water bottle’s worth of mucus into the air around you.  It shoots out of your mouth in the form of moist, germ-infested sheets, traveling at up to to 35 meters per second. That’s fast enough to give you a speeding ticket on a highway. Once that sheet hits the air, it expands,  breaking up into snotty strings, then a series of different-sized droplets all trapped in a turbulent gas cloud. One brave group at MIT discovered that the biggest droplets can travel up to 2 meters– about the distance between your desk and two desks down.  But most other droplets? Those travel much farther– up to 8 meters. That’s about 5 desk lengths! Not only that: The germ-infested gas cloud is less dense than the air around it. So, it rises upwards, right to where ventilation systems and other people’s unsuspecting noses and mouths await. And even though these are relatively smaller droplets, they’re probably still teeming with harmful pathogens, like the flu virus. Even worse — depending on ventilation — they can spread through a room in just a few seconds, and remain suspended for up to 10 minutes! Now, if you happen to notice someone around you sneeze or cough, you can hold your breath as you move out of range. But during flu season, that might not be enough, because there are danger zones everywhere– specifically on surfaces like desks, door knobs, and especially steel handrails. Turns out, the flu virus has been found to survive for 24 hours on a steel surface, and if you touch that surface and don’t wash your hands before eating, you may have just gotten infected. So, let’s say you show up to work sick with the flu one day, and you start to sneeze. Now, according to one study, you’ll probably infect 1 to 2 other people. You’re clearly showing symptoms of the flu. However, it takes a few days for symptoms to show up in the other people you infect. So, those poor souls unknowingly also come to work sick over the next few days and potentially infect 1 or 2 more people. In an office of 100 desks, this could mean 10 or 15 sick people by the end of two weeks! That’s over 10% of the office. And all of it started with just one sick person: You. All thanks to the germ-laden cloud you so generously shared. So, next time you’re not feeling great, and sneezing up a storm, think about your poor coworkers and take a sick day for yourself. And them.

SCIENTISTS COULDN'T BELIEVE THEIR EYES WHEN THEY SAW THIS... ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] History lovers and wannabe Indiana Joneses around the world dream of finding a rare and valuable artifact during their travels. And the truth is that many people who aren’t looking for something end up finding something incredibly rare on accident, or by pure luck. However, there are other people who have been searching long and hard for recently discovered some incredible artifacts, and now we’re going to show you what they found! From an ancient Qing Dynasty Sword to a bizarre 400-million-year old hammer, check out these 10 recently discovered ancient artifacts. 10. Chinese Man Finds Old Sword in Ground, Uses it as Kitchen Knife A 60-year-old Chinese farmer named, Yi Shouxiang, was digging on his land in Chengkou County in China Province when he stumbled across an old sword blade that had no handle. Not thinking much of it at the time, he took it home and used it as a kitchen knife for five years until one day he noticed some strange characters on the blade. 9. Thor's Hammer No, we’re not talking about Mjolnir, the very powerful and mythical hammer which Thor used to protect Asgard from the Frost Giants. Instead, this small artifact is a Viking amulet in the shape of Thor's Hammer which dates back to the 10th century. 8. Pensioner Finds 2,300-Year-Old Pure Gold Crown Under Bed An elderly English man who decided to remain anonymous really had a stroke of luck when he re-discovered inherited treasure in the form of an authentic Greek gold crown in a cardboard box under his bed! He had inherited the box from his grandfather, and saw the crown long ago, but didn’t think it had any value, so he didn’t pay any attention to it. 7. 1,000-Year-Old Viking Sword Discovered Some discoveries really do just land in your lap as Árni Björn Valdimarsson found out in 2016 when he and a group of friends went hunting for geese and instead found a 1000-year-old Viking sword laying on the sand completely exposed. 6. Ancient Texas Hammer Found ‘Embedded’ in Rock There are few ancient artifacts that cause a bigger debate than the legendary ‘London Hammer’. The hammer was found in a tiny little town called London, located in Texas, USA, was found embedded in rock. But here’s the big mystery; the rock that the hammer is stuck in is over 400 million years old! 5. Religious Artifacts Found Alongside Bones in Attic Maybe Relics of a Saint Mr. Williston of St John, New Brunswick, Canada made a remarkable discovery while cleaning out his attic one night in 2015. Alongside the usual family heirlooms, unused furniture, and Christmas decorations he was shocked to discover bones, some jewelry, and many other strange trinkets. 4. Roman Swords Big time discoveries are really a dream for archeologists both amateur and professional alike. So, the chance to work on an excavation site at the Roman Fort of Vindolanda, just south of Hadrian's Wall, was a dream come true for archaeologist Sarah Baker. She, along with other volunteers, helped to unearth a previously unknown barracks at the site in 2017. 3. Viking Shield In 2008, Danish archaeologists who were digging 60 miles or so outside of Copenhagen found a stunningly well-preserved Viking shield, which is believed to be around 1,000 years old! Archaeologist Kirsten Christensen was understandably excited upon discovering it. The reason it was so well-preserved is that of the moist soil and sediment that covered it keeping oxygen out which causes things to decay. 2. Amazing Discovery Found in the Sand Could Rewrite Australian History Those who know Australian history no doubt know that Dutchman Willem Janszoon is credited with the discovery of Australia when he landed in North Queensland in 1606, around 160 years before Captain Cook! However, a discovery of some copper coins on Wessel Island by a patrolling soldier in 1944 may just rewrite that history! 1. Grandmothers Ming Dynasty Style Plate Sells for Nearly a Quarter of a Million Dollars We all know that grandmothers have a love of pottery, porcelain, and fine china. And what most people don’t expect is to be left a porcelain plate by their grandmother which is worth over $265,000 thousand dollars! We hope you enjoyed this video. How To Time Travel, According To A Physicist

02:41
Brian Greene, professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia University and co-founder of the World Science Festival, explains what we know about time travel so far. Tech Insider tells you all you need to know about tech: gadgets, how-to's, gaming, science, digital culture, and more. Subscribe to our channel and visit us at: http://www.businessinsider.com/sai TI on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/techinsider TI on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tech_insider/ TI on Twitter: https://twitter.com/techinsider -------------------------------------------------- Following is the transcript of the video: Brian Greene: I’m Brian Greene, professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia University and co-founder of the World Science Festival. It's critical that you realize that there are two types of time travel, and they are radically different. Time travel to the future? Definitely possible. We know how to do it because Einstein showed us the way over a hundred years ago. It’s surprising how few people actually really know about this in their bones. He showed that if you go out into space and travel near the speed of light, and you turn around, and you come back, your clock will be ticking off time more slowly. So, when you step off it's going to be the future on planet Earth. You will have time traveled into the future. He also showed that if you hang out near a nice strong source of gravity — a neutron star, a black hole — and you kind of get right near the edge of that object, time also for you would slow down real slow relative to everybody else. And therefore, when you come back to Earth, for instance, it'll again be far into the future. This is not controversial stuff. Any physicist who knows what they're talking about agrees with this. But the other kind of time travel — to the past is where the arguments start to happen because many of us don't think that time travel to the past is possible. The main proposal that people at least consider worthy of attention for traveling to the past does make use of a weird concept called wormholes. A wormhole is something that really … Albert Einstein again discovered. The guy has like got his name written over everything in this field. It's a bridge, if you will, from one location space to another. It's kind of a tunnel that gives you a shortcut to go from here to here. Now he discovered this in 1935 but it was subsequently realized that if you manipulate the openings of a wormhole — put one near a black hole or take one on a high-speed journey — then time of the two openings of this wormhole tunnel will not take off at the same rate, so that you will no longer just go from one location in space to another, if you go through this tunnel — through this wormhole — you'll go from one moment in time to a different moment in time. Go one way, you'll travel to the past, the other way, travel to the future. Now again, we don't know if wormholes are real. We don't know if they are real whether you'll be able to go through them. So, there are all sorts of uncertainties here. Most of us think that you're not going to actually go on a whirlwind journey through a wormhole to the past. But it's still not ruled out.

In this video, I will teach you common phrasal verbs that we use when talking about traveling. But first, I will explain what phrasal verbs are and show you their importance in conversational English. We will look at how to correctly use "drop off", "see off", "take off", "get in", "check in", and more. Join me, and get ready for a big trip to improve both your life and your English! TAKE THE QUIZ: http://www.engvid.com/phrasal-verbs-for-travel-drop-off-get-in-check-out/ TRANSCRIPT Hello. My name is Emma, and in today's video I'm going to talk about something I love, and that is travel. So, if you like travelling too, if you're planning on going on a vacation, or if you know somebody who's travelling, this video will be very, very helpful to you. In this video I'm going to teach you some very important verbs. They're all phrasal verbs, and I'll explain what a phrasal verb is in a moment. So, these are all verbs that we use when we're talking about travel. Okay. So, to get started, I wanted to tell you a little bit about phrasal verbs. What is a phrasal verb? One of the difficulties students have with English are verbs where you have a verb and a preposition. So, when you see a verb and a preposition together, that's a phrasal verb. Now, you might be thinking: "What's a preposition?" Good question. I'm going to give you an example. We have here four words, each of these is a phrasal verb. They all have the verb "get": "get in", "get up", "get on", "get over", and there's many more, "get away". There's tons of them. Each of these actually can have multiple meanings, too. So, one of the most difficult parts about English is learning phrasal verbs, because this, the blue part is the preposition, it can change the meaning of the verb. Okay? So, prepositions are words like: "on", "off", "up", "down", "toward", "over", "away", these types of words are prepositions. So, you'll notice with phrasal verbs, they're very, very common in conversation. They're... You can write them down, too, but in general, when people talk they often use phrasal verbs. Okay? So, they're very, very important, especially when you're talking about going on a trip with your friends or family. So let's look at some of the common phrasal verbs we use when we're talking about trips. The first verb I want to teach you: "Drop off". Okay? So: "drop" is the verb, "off" is the preposition, together: "drop off" is a phrasal verb. What does this mean: "drop off"? When you "drop someone off" it means you're taking them to a place and then you leave them there. So, for example, maybe your friend needs to go to the airport, so you drive them to the airport and you drop them off at the airport. This means you take them there and you leave them in that place. Okay? So they don't come home with you; they stay there. So, for example, I have a friend named Frank, and when Frank goes travelling: "We drop Frank off at the airport." So, we drive Frank to the airport, he has all his luggage, his suitcases, and then we say to Frank: "Goodbye, Frank, you know, have a nice trip." We drop Frank off at the airport. You can also use "drop off" in a lot of other situations. For example, when you were a child maybe your parents, your mom or your dad, or maybe your grandparents dropped you off at school. This means that they took you to school, and then once you got to school, they would say goodbye to you and they would leave. So: "drop off" means you take someone to a place, and then you leave them there. You'll also notice... So, I have here the verb and the preposition. "Frank" is a name of a person and it's in the middle of "drop" and "off". Okay? So, these two are not together. We drop somebody off at the airport. Okay? So, sometimes with phrasal verbs... For some phrasal verbs you actually separate them, and you can put the names of somebody between them; for other ones you can't do that. For this one: "drop off", you put the name between the two... Between the verb and the preposition. So, now let's look at another example of a common phrasal verb. "See off". Okay? So, again, we have "off" in both of these. "See off" is when... It's similar to "drop off", but it's a little bit different. Sometimes your family or your friends are going away for a long time, maybe they're going on a vacation or a trip, so you want to "see them off". It means you want to say goodbye to them at the airport, at the train station, maybe at their house. So, it's that goodbye you say before somebody goes off on a vacation. Okay? So, for example: "We see Frank off." Frank is going to Australia, so we go to the airport because we want to say goodbye to Frank, so: "We see Frank off" is another way to say: "We say goodbye to Frank when he goes on his trip."
How Far Does a Mouse Cursor Travel? (And More)

07:11
Have you ever wondered how many key strokes and clicks we make, or how far our mouse course travels in lets say one years time? What would you say if you were to realize that someone's mouse pointer moved so much that it could have crossed half the planet Earth if it traveled in one direction. There are certain things about computers and computer components that very few people ever think about. But if you take a moment to think about them, you just might find some truly fascinating facts. For example, one study suggests that you can easily travel around 100 kilometers a year with your mouse. The same study suggests that we can easily make more than 2 million clicks in a working year, but one could imagine how that's probably nothing compared to the amount of times a hardcore gamer clicks during the course of a year. The average for data entry in the United States is approximately 8,000 keystrokes per hour, which builds up to an average of around 16,000,000 keystrokes in a working year, or a couple million less if subtract vacation days Apps mentioned in the video: - IO Graph http://iographica.com/ - Mousotron http://www.blacksunsoftware.com/mousotron.html -WhatPulse https://whatpulse.org/ DISCLAIMER: THERE ARE A LOT OF STUDIES AND EXPERIMENTS THAT TRY TO ANSWER HOW MANY KEYSTROKES AND CLICKS PEOPLE MAKE, OR HOW MUCH DISTANCE MOUSE CURSORS CAN CROSS IN A PARTICULAR TIME SPAN. HOWEVER IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SIGNIFICANT DOSE OF BIAS, AS THE FREQUENCY OF ACTIVITIES IN QUESTION VARIES FROM PERSON TO PERSON. Jubilee High Command Travels To Far Land Seeking To Know God's Mind Part 1

06:36
Jubilee high command seeks to know the mind of GOD and sends somebody to a far away land to find out. http://kumekucha.blogspot.com Some highly sensitive information had to be left out of this video but do not despair you can get it instantly TODAY by becoming a member of the famed Kumekucha club1999 RIGHT AWAY. It is so easy... WHAT YOU NEED TO DO; To become a full club 1999 member pay only Kshs 1999/- or $19.99 for 6 months membership. OR become a temporary member of club 1999 pay only Kshs 890/- OR $8.90 for 2 months membership. Lifetime membership 2,999/- OR $29.99 Email [email protected] NOW for payment instructions. ================================================ HOW TO ADVERTISE ON KUMEKUCHA --------------------------------------------------------------- We will carry your advertisement here for 15 seconds to interupt high traffic videos posted both on Youtube and our high traffic 12-year old Kumekucha blog. The advantage here is that they are permanent because once we post a video it is never deleted. The cost is Kshs 19,000 and includes audio, video and music production of your 15 second spot. Your ad will run in at least 5 different Kumekucha videos. We will also prepare a special video with more description of your product/service which will also be posted on our channel and will run for a minimum of one minute but will run for as long as we need to effectively get the full message across, maximum 5 minutes. A link to this video will be included in the description area of every video that carries your spot. The deal is extremely attractive because you will only need to pay Kshs 7,000 (which will only cover part of the production costs for your ad) and the balance (which is the ad cost) will be payable ONLY when you are FULLY satisfied with the response you get. If you have the slightest doubt that it has not been effective for you then you owe us no balance. Apart from protecting you, this also ensures that we will work very hard to ensure that you get a response so as to get our balance of Kshs 12,000/- because, as you are aware, Kshs 7,000 hardly covers the production costs of our creative team. The 10 BIGGEST Travel Mistakes TO NOT MAKE

10:58
The 10 BIGGEST Travel MISTAKES I've Made, so you won't! Check out my travel vlogs: https://goo.gl/NbHJ87 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Over the past few years I've found myself averaging anywhere from 2-4 flights a month. That's more than the typical American. I am lucky that I get to create my own schedule, and skip off to a new adventure whenever I please- here are the 10 travel mistakes that I've made so that you are aware of them and don't make them. Some of these are rookie travel mistakes that may seem obvious, and some of these are more personal to my perspective on traveling and how to have a fulfilling trip. I hope these help you in your travels! Business: [email protected] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - https://twitter.com/hairodynamic http://instagram.com/monicachurch My Millennial Life Crisis was started 3 years ago when I was stuck in a rut creatively, career wise, and personally. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, I wasn't happy with where I was living, and I didn't feel like I had much of a support system. That is how the Millennial Life Crisis series was born. It was a way for me to let go of my feelings and document my personal growth. Along the way I have found that a lot of you have related with this feeling, that is why I keep vlogging. From now on you can expect weekly Millennial Life Crisis episodes about my life, growing up, career growth, trying new things, friendships, relationships, family, and travels.

The Vikings! - Crash Course World History 224

In which John Green teaches you about Vikings! That's right, one of our most requested subjects, the Vikings, right here on Crash Course. So what's the deal with Vikings? Well, the stuff you've heard about them may not be true. The Vikings weren't just pagan raiders striking terror into the hearts of defenseless European Christendom. They were some of the greatest travelers of their time, and they weren't always traveling to steal. In a lot of cases, they were traveling to trade. John will teach you about Viking trade goods, Norse Mythology, and yes, there will be blood, guts, and dragons. OK? You can directly support Crash Course at https://www.patreon.com/crashcourse Subscribe for as little as $0 to keep up with everything we're doing. Free is nice, but if you can afford to pay a little every month, it really helps us to continue producing this content.

I Got Pregnant At 15 And My BF Is Shocked

04:10
★ Subscribe My Channel: https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j Hi, I am Liz and I want to tell you about a story that I thought to be the end of my life but it turned out to be a new beginning. To make a long story short, I got pregnant when I was 15. Shocking, isn’t it? It all happened in high school, in my junior year. The year of sweet 16, driving permits, and junior prom. The year I met my first boyfriend and got into a naive, head-spinning first love. We weren’t very attentive about contraception, neither were really well-informed on the matter. Then for a few weeks I had no period, but I didn't worry as my cycle was still immature. Until one morning my reflection surprised me. Had my fairy godmother come? My breasts looked fantastic. A lightbulb went off. Suddenly all I could think was, I might be pregnant. An ad for a clinic that was offering free pregnancy tests grabbed my attention, and I went. A friend drove me. The woman walked me through the pregnancy test. A tiny plus sign materialized. Then my world crumbled. I put on a fake smile and kept moving through a resemblance of normal life. It was only a matter of time before my parents figured it out: my breasts were growing; my stomach would soon follow. I wasn't sure how my parents would react and I didn’t want to be influenced by their opinion on the matter. Now I regret I wasted time in doubts. In the meantime the gossip was spreading. Odd calls and stalking from concerned teens I knew and even some worried parents threatening to involve my parents in order to prevent me from drastic solutions. I was infuriated – not that I was tending to them but it was supposed to be totally my decision! What’s more, in my understanding it was me who was to inform my parents so that is how we finally had a talk. They were inevitably distressed about the pregnancy but vowed to support me whichever path I chose. And after my boyfriend told his family, his mom called mine. They pledged unwavering support. I would have been lost without all of them. Even with all that love, life as a pregnant teen was awful. Sixteen was not sweet. Dreams of college vanished. I was ashamed. I was depressed. September arrived; the school year began without me. I finished the year with home-schooling, isolated. Friends visited, but it hurt to hear about their life without me. By that point, my boyfriend and I didn't like each other very much. We disagreed on literally everything. So when I came to delivery I was in pieces. My daughter arrived two weeks early after 23 hours of labor. I'm not sure how I tolerated it, but my mom, my boyfriend, and my boyfriend's mom were by my side. Throughout all of this, I endured lots of public contempt. I was lucky to have had endless support. I can't imagine what life is like for girls who are forced into motherhood or embrace it alone. Some time now has passed. My boyfriend grew into a wonderful dad. Eventually, as we became adults, we parted our ways, but he's there for our girl and he travels hours to spend time with her. He's someone that could be counted on. People often assume that since I had a child as a teen I must be pro-life. I'm not. It was my choice to be a mother, not something forced upon me. It was a choice that I am grateful I had. Wish any teenage mom could tell an inspiring story like this.

How Large is the Universe?

25:04
The universe has long captivated us with its immense scales of distance and time. How far does it stretch? Where does it end, and what lies beyond its star fields and streams of galaxies extending as far as telescopes can see? These questions are beginning to yield to a series of extraordinary new lines of investigation and technologies that are letting us to peer into the most distant realms of the cosmos. But also at the behavior of matter and energy on the smallest of scales. Remarkably, our growing understanding of this kingdom of the ultra-tiny, inside the nuclei of atoms, permits us to glimpse the largest vistas of space and time. In ancient times, most observers saw the stars as a sphere surrounding the earth, often the home of deities. The Greeks were the first to see celestial events as phenomena, subject to human investigation rather than the fickle whims of the Gods. One sky-watcher, for example, suggested that meteors are made of materials found on Earth... and might have even come from the Earth. Those early astronomers built the foundations of modern science. But they would be shocked to see the discoveries made by their counterparts today. The stars and planets that once harbored the gods are now seen as infinitesimal parts of a vast scaffolding of matter and energy extending far out into space. Just how far began to emerge in the 1920s. Working at the huge new 100-inch Hooker Telescope on California's Mt. Wilson, astronomer Edwin Hubble, along with his assistant named Milt Humason, analyzed the light of fuzzy patches of sky... known then as nebulae. They showed that these were actually distant galaxies far beyond our own. Hubble and Humason discovered that most of them are moving away from us. The farther out they looked, the faster they were receding. This fact, now known as Hubble's law, suggests that there must have been a time when the matter in all these galaxies was together in one place. That time, when our universe sprung forth, has come to be called the Big Bang. How large the cosmos has gotten since then depends on how long its been growing and its expansion rate. Recent precision measurements gathered by the Hubble space telescope and other instruments have brought a consensus... That the universe dates back 13.7 billion years. Its radius, then, is the distance a beam of light would have traveled in that time ... 13.7 billion light years. That works out to about 1.3 quadrillion kilometers. In fact, it's even bigger.... Much bigger. How it got so large, so fast, was until recently a deep mystery. That the universe could expand had been predicted back in 1917 by Albert Einstein, except that Einstein himself didn't believe it until he saw Hubble and Humason's evidence. Einstein's general theory of relativity suggested that galaxies could be moving apart because space itself is expanding. So when a photon gets blasted out from a distant star, it moves through a cosmic landscape that is getting larger and larger, increasing the distance it must travel to reach us. In 1995, the orbiting telescope named for Edwin Hubble began to take the measure of the universe... by looking for the most distant galaxies it could see. Taking the expansion of the universe into account, the space telescope found galaxies that are now almost 46 billion light years away from us in each direction... and almost 92 billion light years from each other. And that would be the whole universe... according to a straightforward model of the big bang. But remarkably, that might be a mere speck within the universe as a whole, according to a dramatic new theory that describes the origins of the cosmos.

Most MYSTERIOUS Facts About The Knights Templar!

Check out the Most MYSTERIOUS Facts About The Knights Templar! From the amazing history of crusaders to hidden holy grails and conspiracies, this top 10 list of fascinating mysteries about the knights templar is really intriguing! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "REAL Mermaid Sightings Around The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/ChM0CBRmVsM Watch our "10 Sea Monsters ATTACKING A Boat!" video here: https://youtu.be/0XROvoPCDNc Watch our "STRANGEST Animals People Keep As Pets!" video here: https://youtu.be/OMa96nPqz-Y 10. Who were the Knights Templar? The first crusade was a military campaign organized by western rulers, the Pope, and the Byzantine Empire to take Jerusalem away from Muslim control. In the year 1099, the capture of Jerusalem led to thousands upon thousands of Christian pilgrims making the journey to the Holy Land. While the city itself was secure, the area around it, known as Outremer, was a place of bandits and marauders. 9. The Temple of Solomon While in Jerusalem, the order set up their headquarters in the building that was formerly the Al Aqsa mosque, from where they organized their operations. There was more to this choice of location than many believed, as the Knights believed it to be the site of the Temple of Solomon. The building stood on the Temple Mount, which was where the vast temple of the Jews of the Old Testament once stood, and while the buildings atop the mount had long been destroyed, the Knights suspected there may still be hidden structures beneath. 8. Temple Church The Knights Templar had strongholds across Europe, but there’s actually one that you can visit today! In an area of London, England, known as ‘Temple’, you can walk through a stone archway onto Inner Temple lane where you’ll find yourself surrounded by gothic and Victorian architecture. It was here that the Knights Templar built monastic dormitories and chambers and, most significantly, the Temple Church. 7. Rosslyn Chapel The chapel in the town of Rosslyn, just to the south of Edinburgh in Scotland, is inconspicuous at first glance, but its links with the Knights Templar have led to theories suggesting it’s the hiding place of something incredibly significant. If the weather-worn gothic architecture seems familiar, then you may know this place from the movie, the Da Vinci Code, which featured the chapel. 6. The 12 Who Escaped According to legend, during the rounding up and execution of the Knights Templar in France, it’s thought that 24 managed to escape. 12 of this group were named in a document from 1307, which suggests that they were, in particular, being searched for by the king, but what was so special about them? 5. Templar Towns As we have seen, the Knights Templar constructed buildings across Europe, and maintained a stronghold in Jerusalem for as long as possible, but did you know that they also built entire towns? Partly as a result of the wealth, they accumulated, and because they needed to provide their followers with secure places to live, these Templar outposts can be found throughout Europe, particularly in the hills on the border between Spain and Portugal. 4. Did they Visit America? Following the arrest of most of the order, those who evaded capture fled to far-flung places, and some believe they may even have made it as far as the Americas. When the French authorities raided the Paris Temple, they found it to be completely empty. 3. Supposed Worship of Baphomet One of the claims against the Templars, when they were arrested, was of blasphemy. While they disputed this, they certainly had some unusual rituals, one of which was supposedly the worship of Baphomet. You may recognize images of Baphomet from things ranging from heavy metal albums to religious propaganda, as the icon is often associated with Satanism. 2. There Were Female Members We only ever see depictions of the Knights Templar being men and, what with the way the world was, it would be a fair assumption to believe that the only members of the monastic order were male… but that’s not entirely true. While the Knights Templar were formed to fight battles, and the Order’s rule, set out by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, explicitly forbade women from joining to prevent temptation 1. They Still Exist Today! Despite the order of the Knights Templar having been officially disbanded in 1314, their influence and teachings can still be felt today. Of course, it’s long been thought that Knights have continued to protect the legendary treasures that were hidden, but the truth behind this has so far evaded discovery. Click 👉 EVne.ws/patreon   Read today’s show notes on https://www.evnewsdaily.com   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Sunday 11th November 2018. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   TESLA ENABLES FREE SUPERCHARGING TO ESCAPE WILDFIRES “Due to wildfires in California, your vehicle has been granted free supercharging. We hope this provides assistance for your transportation needs and will notify you before returning your vehicle to its original configuration in mid-December. Safe travels.”   "Tesla has also released additional battery capacity to those cars with software-limited battery packs in the areas affected by the fires, just as they did during Hurricane Florence. The additional capacity will also be reverted in mid-December" - Electrek   https://electrek.co/2018/11/10/tesla-supercharging-free-owners-california-wildfire/   JB STRAUBEL POCKETS $5m Tesla CTO Jeffrey B. Straubel (aka JB) sold 15,000 shares of Tesla stock in a transaction dated Wednesday, November 7th. The stock was sold at an average price of $348.44, for a total transaction of $5,226,600.00. This should be fun..."Hyundai is looking at ways to increase its strength in the Brazilian market. Some of them were concentrated in a single prototype. The SAGA EV is a small crossover with electric motorization, created not only to anticipate the new design identity of the company for the models in Brazil but also to feel a bit of what the public thinks of the idea of a smaller utility than Crete and if they would like a fully electric car." Maybe we should check in with InsideEVs for something which makes a little more sense: "Saga EV – which turns out to be equipped with Kona Electric goodies (64 kWh battery and 150 kW electric motor). The all-new style of the Saga EV was designed by Hyundai Design North America in Irvine, California. It previews the Hyundai HB20X crossover (i20 Active). According to news from Brazil, a production electric CUV based on the i20 could be ready for the local market as early as 2019. This strategy may be working fine over here, but it is about to catch up with the company in Europe where emission laws are more strict." reports CarBuzz.com: "Automotive News Europe reports that Mazda will be forced to pay European Union fines for failing to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Mazda CEO Akira Marumoto told reporters the fines are related to the company's high proportion of SUV sales. To avoid further penalties, Mazda will have to speed up its introduction of hybrids and EVs. The company has plans to electrify its entire lineup by 2035, including mild-hybrid versions of its core models as soon as 2019. Mazda also plans to introduce a pure EV and a range-extender model with a rotary engine by 2020."   JAGUAR I-PACE SALES EXCEEDED 1,000 IN OCTOBER "Jaguar sold in October 1,200 I-PACE. It’s a new highest result, which brings total deliveries to 2,468. When we look at Jag’s total volume of 13,764 (up 11.6%) for the month, we note that I-PACE not only accounted for 8.7% share for the brand, but almost the entire increase of sales for Jaguar fall on the I-PACE’s shoulders." reports Mark Kane for InsideEVs.com "So far it seems that the introduction of I-PACE was a very smart move for Jaguar, which in the near future probably will try to utilize its platform to develop other models. We believe there should be no problem in exceeding 2,000 units a month sometime soon."   ANDY MURRAY TALKS JAGUAR I-PACE AND ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING You’re running an I-Pace at the moment, and...
