16 Secrets Behind Famous Logos and Brand Names

10:16
The names and logos of famous brands have a secret meaning you've never heard of. Each company logo has a story behind it. Many brand names seem meaningless to us but have an interesting explanation in the language of the country they come from. “Lego” means “play well” in Danish, “Fanta” comes from German “Fantasie”, Chupa Chups was named so after the Spanish verb “chupar”, which means “to suck”, “Samsung” is Korean for “3 stars”. “Pandora” has to do with a myth of the creation of the first human woman named Pandora. As for the logos, some of them were inspired by real sights, such as the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany for Disney. Others have historical meaning, such as the red cross from the city of Milan’s emblem, and the bloodthirsty crowned viper of the House of Visconti in Alfa Romeo’s logo. The Chupa Chups symbol as we know it was designed by super famous artist Salvador Dali himself. TIMESTAMPS Disney 0:30 Lego 1:06 Pepsi 1:33 Fanta 2:13 Chupa Chups 2:40 Nintendo 3:26 Pandora 4:01 Häagen-Dazs 4:45 Cadillac 5:25 Durex 5:55 Levi’s 6:22 eBay 6:57 Samsung 7:26 Sega 8:04 Audi 8:40 Alfa Romeo 9:20 SUMMARY -The current Disney logo was inspired by the Cinderella Castle and created in 2006. -“Lego” comes from the Danish phrase “leg godt”, which means “play well”. -Look at Pepsi’s logo from a different angle and you will get a creepy message. -Try to say “fantasy” in German to understand where the word “Fanta” comes from. -You will be surprised to know Salvador Dali designed the Chupa Chups logo. -The 3 Japanese characters “Nin-ten-do” mean “leave luck to heaven”. -“Pandora” logo with a crown promises you excellent royal quality. -If you were wondering what “Häagen-Dazs” means, you’ll be sad to find out it stands for nothing. -Cadillac was named after French explorer Sieur de Cadillac, founder of Detroit. -“Durex” stands for “durability, reliability, and excellence”. -Pay close attention to “Levi’s” logo to see what body part it’s covering. -“eBay” is the short for Echo Bay, not “Electronic Bay” as many people think. -“Sam” in Korean means “3,” and “Sung” stands for “star”. - You will be surprised to find out that SEGA stands for “Service Games of Japan.” -“Horch” means “listen” in German, and “Audi” is the same thing in Latin. -The Alfa Romeo logo has the city of Milan’s emblem and the symbol of the House of Visconti in it. 16 FAMOUS LOGOS WITH A HIDDEN MEANING (That We Never Even Noticed)

06:28
How to design a successful logo? How to build a famous brand for your business? Some of the most well-known logos in the world were purposefully designed to indicate something much more than simple beauty. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve, and color has meaning behind it. Adidas, Apple, BMW, Coca-Cola, Toyota… We see these famous brands everywhere but never consider what their logos exactly mean. Curious to know the secret? Watch the 16 famous logos with a hidden meaning you've never noticed. #logomeaning #logosecret # Hyundai 0:33 The letter ’Н’ symbolizes two people – a client and a representative of the company – shaking hands. Adidas 0:52 The current logo is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolizes a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges that all sportsmen have to overcome day after day. Apple 1:21 Rob Janoff, the designer who came up with the world-famous Apple company logo, explained his idea in one of his interviews. He bought a bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Vaio 1:58 The first two letters of the Vaio logo symbolize an analogue wave. The last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. Amazon 2:14 The orange arrow is similar to a smile because the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product you can imagine. Baskin Robbins 2:40 The pink-colored parts of the "BR" section make up the number 31, which is how many ice cream flavors Baskin Robbins used to famously sell. Toyota 2:56 The logo represents a stylized image of a needle eye with a thread passing through it. This is a hint at the company’s past – they used to produce weaving machines. Continental 3:28 Continental, a famous car tire producer, has a logo in which the first two letters depict a car wheel. Formula 1 3:41 If you look carefully at the white space between the letter ’F’ and the red stripes, you can see the number 1. Pinterest 3:59 On Pinterest, people collect images they like from across the Internet and ’pin’ them to their online boards. That’s why the image of a pin is hidden in the letter P. Beats 4:17 Beats, an audio equipment producer based in the USA, uses a logo in which the letter ’B’ looks like headphones on a person’s head. Toblerone 4:32 The famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, has a silhouette of a bear in its logo. That's because Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. BMW 4:55 The logo is simply a part of the Bavarian flag, the area of Germany where the company originated. LG 5:18 The logo is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to have human relations with their customers. Evernote 5:34 The corner of the elephant’s ear is folded over in a similar way how people fold the corner of a page to make notes. Coca-Cola 5:57 In the space between the letters ’O’ and ’L’, you can see the Danish flag. It’s purely a coincidence. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has used this as part of its marketing campaigns in the Scandinavian country. If you’ve enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up button! What makes a truly great logo

04:45
Here's how a simple mark ends up meaning something big as a great logo. Joe Posner, and Michael Bierut (designer of the Hillary Clinton logo) explain. For more from Michael Bierut on graphic design, check out his book "How to use graphic design to sell things, explain things, make things look better, make people laugh, cry, and (every once in a while) change the world": http://www.amazon.com/How-Michael-Bierut/dp/0062413902 Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO About once a month, there's a new logo to fight about on the internet. The biggest one in recent memory was the highly controversial Hillary Clinton logo, which did not escape scrutiny from Vox.com either. But as a designer/filmmaker, something about these repeated discussions struck me as missing the point on what makes logos tick. It often has little to do with the subjective musings. So I called up Michael Bierut, the designer of that Hillary Clinton logo and countless others. He sat down with me and helped explain the elements of a great logo in the video above. 12 Famous Logos With a Secret Meaning

10:53
A logo is the face of a brand, and we often buy this or that item because its “face” is well-known to the world. Come on, don’t deny it! As for the best logos, they convey a hidden subtext that represents the company’s values, goals, or history. So, here are 12 world-famous logos with a secret hidden meaning! TIMESTAMPS: Airbnb 1:15 TripAdvisor 2:02 MasterCard 2:55 Dell 3:53 National Geographic 4:26 Vodafone 5:08 Haribo 6:00 Subway 6:37 DC Comics 7:29 Mozilla Firefox 8:15 Bacardi 9:09 Orbit 9:42 Preview photo credit: Firefox logo used since June 2013 (version 23.0 Beta), Previous version of logo, used since Firefox 3.5: By © The Mozilla Foundation, CC BY 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.es, https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:Mozilla_Firefox_logo_2013.svg Animation is created by Bright Side Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The logo contains 4 simple yet meaningful elements: the head of a person that represents a user of their site, the sign for a location on a map to show where the house or apartment is, a heart to represent love, and, finally, all of these symbols combine to make the letter “A” for Airbnb. - TripAdvisor’s logo is an owl, which symbolizes wisdom and knowledge. As for its different-colored eyes, they show that each traveler has a choice to make: green means go, and red means no! - The international payment system we all know these days as MasterCard was established in 1966 as Interbank. Red stands for bravery, passion, and for doing what makes you feel joy. The bright yellow symbolizes prosperity. - Ever wonder why the “E” in Dell’s logo is all askew? Well, the founder of the company, Michael Dell, wanted to convey the meaning of the popular idiom “turn the world on its ear,” which means to change something in an exciting way. - National Geographic, the popular magazine and channel that broadcasts documentaries in 171 countries, made its logo a yellow rectangle. The rectangle symbolizes a door that’s open to the world of knowledge about nature, science, and culture. Yellow and bright just like the Sun. - Vodafone is a British mobile provider that operates mostly in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. The company chose a couple of mysterious things for its logo, which looks sort of like an earphone. The designers wanted to show that, with Vodafone, users can talk to each other any time they want. - The Haribo’s founder combined the first 2 letters of his first and last name, Hans Riegel, and added the first 2 letters of his hometown of Bonn. - The arrows on the first and last letters of the Subway logo are there for a reason: they actually stand for the entrance and exit to the subway. This way, the company demonstrates that, with Subway, you can eat on the go, like in the actual subway! - Jim Lee revealed what the new logo of DC Comics actually means. The nooks and angles are meant to evoke the Superman “S” symbol, the Wonder Woman “WW” emblem, and the Bat-Signal. - “Firefox” is the English translation of the Chinese name for a red panda. This way, the company wanted to demonstrate how unique they are because this is a very rare kind of panda that’s actually endangered. - The legend goes that the wife of Bacardi’s co-founder saw a bat in their liquor factory. But instead of getting scared and running for the exit, he took it as a sign and decided that this was exactly what should be on the logo. - If you look closely at the Orbit's logo, you’ll notice that the capital “O” is split into 2 parts: one dark and one light. In the background you can see the image of an orbit. So, it’s clear that the “O” symbolizes day and night and a planet revolving around the Sun. Step 1: Use the Logo Making Tool First, let’s go to the following link: https://websitelearners.com/get/logomaker. It will take you to the free online logo maker tool that will help you design a logo with a variety of options based on your style and preferences. You should see a sample logo on the page. You can click on the “New” button on the top menu to get rid of the sample logo. Now you should have a blank page where you can start creating your own logo. Step 2: Create Your Unique Icon An icon showcases your brand. It will help your logo stand out. Start by clicking the “ADD SYMBOL” button on the left menu of the browser window. It will show you various categories available for icons. Choose the category that best represents your brand. Then, select an icon that you like. The icon should show up on the page. Now you have the option to change various aspects of the icon to make it more unique. For example, you can change the color by clicking on various parts of the icon. It will pop up a menu with color options. You can use your creativity to make the icon as unique as you want. You can further customize your icon by selecting a part and then removing it by clicking on the “eye” symbol. You can also combine multiple icons to create your unique logo. Just click on the “ADD SYMBOL” button and select a new icon. It will show up on the page with the previous one. Then you can reposition, resize and change the colors of the icons to create a unique logo design. Step 3: Add Your Brand Name and Tag Line Next, you can add your business name and tagline to the logo. Click on the “ADD TEXT” button on the left menu to add your brand name. A text box should appear where you can type in the name. You can also drag and drop the text box to reposition it relative to the icon you created in the previous step. The pop-up “SYMBOL OPTIONS” menu will allow you to change fonts and colors, make your text bold or italic, and resize the text. You can also resize the text by clicking and dragging the small squares around the text box. Add a tagline using the same process. To make your brand name more unique, use your creativity. For example, if your brand name is “SURPRISEME”, instead of putting the whole text in one text box, you can create two text boxes with the words “SURPRISE” and “ME” separated. Now you can manipulate the font, color, style, and size of each text box individually to create a truly unique design. Step 4: Downloading Your Unique Logo After you are done designing your logo, you can download it to your computer. You can click on the “SAVE & DOWNLOAD” button on the top menu of the browser window. It will ask for your email. Enter your email in the text area and click the “SAVE and CONTINUE” button. It will show you a confirmation window with the following message “Your logo has been sent!” Go to your email. You should receive an email from onlinelogomaker.com with a ZIP file attachment. Download the ZIP file and open it. It will contain the logo in various image formats like EPS, PNG, SVG, and JPG. Congratulations! You have your first unique logo! 16 Famous Brands Logos and their Hidden Meanings

04:54
Have you ever looked at logos and wondered what their meanings were or what inspired the designer? Here are 15 logos that you see almost every day and what they represent. Companies spend millions of dollars coming up with unique and compelling logos that define their brands and make them stand out from their competitors. We see hundreds of them every day, but do we really get what those logos mean? This graphic is a compilation of 40 famous logos and the hidden meaning behind them. Toyota The three ellipses seen in the logo for Toyota represent three hearts: the heart of the customer, the heart of the product, and the heart of progress in the field of technology. Amazon The giant online store aptly takes on the name Amazon to convey its wide store directory. This is further hinted by the arrow linking the ‘A’ to ‘Z’ to say that they have everything from ‘A’ to ‘Z’. Which should be able to satisfy you, hence the dual meaning of the arrow being a smile. Vaio VAIO is Sony’s brand line for its laptops. The logo is not just a sylized brand name but refers to turning analog waves into a digital form too. The analog waves are represented in the ‘V’ and ‘A’. ‘I’ and ‘O’ on the other hand can also refer to 1 and 0, which are the two digits used in binary code, the digital. Toblerone Chocolate again! Toblerone’s logo is lot more complex than Hershey’s. Look closely at the mountain and you’ll be able to spot a bear. The reason for this is because the Swiss chocolate company originated from the city of Bern, Switzerland which is also known as the City of Bears.

9 Products That Look Extremely Different in Other Countires

Large companies often change the names of the same goods from country to country. If you find yourself looking for a product in a foreign store for hours with no luck, it may be distributed "under a pseudonym" in this country. Bright Side invites you to find out which world-famous brands change their names in other countries and the reasons they have for doing it. As for me, Twix is the biggest surprise on this list! Therefore, Burger King invented a new name for Australia: Hungry Jack’s. - The Unilever company founded Axe in France in 1983, but in some countries, the name had been already “occupied” by other brands. The company took the name Lynx to distribute their product in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and China. - When entering the US market, company executives decided to make the brand name more “American”: Dannon. The former name was wrongly pronounced by Americans, who divided it into two words: “dan” and “one.” - The record holder for the number of renames is the brand Mr. Clean. In almost every large country, this cleaning agent has its own name. - Procter&Gamble has been manufacturing Crest toothpaste since 1955. In Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, and some other countries it has another name: Blend-a-med. - You can buy Dove chocolate in most countries all over the world, yet the same product in the UK, Egypt, and India is called Galaxy. - Walkers was founded in the UK in 1948. In 1989, PepsiCo, the producer of Lay’s chips, purchased Walkers. After that, the British chips changed design but kept the same name: Walkers. - This chocolate bar was originally called Raider and was first produced in the UK in 1967. In 1979, the product was imported to the USA under the name Twix. Yet in many European countries, it’s still sold under the brand name Raider. Top 10 Most Iconic Luxury Fashion Logos

01:25
A logo is among the first things a person remembers about a company or brand. When it comes to fashion brand logos, the importance of the logo is no exception. In fact, a simple fashion logo design can be the difference of a plain black t-shirt being sold for $10 or $1000. Clothing logos are especially important because they send out the signal of the fabric a particular person is wearing. Therefore, the fashion logo design definitely wants to be put on display on the exterior of an individual’s clothing, especially if they are wearing a luxury fashion brand. Luxury fashion brands are expensive. In many situations, the design of the clothing is not very different from regular clothing with the exception of a highly respected fashion logo being the ultimate difference. A highly respected fashion logo can sell out a store within minutes. When it comes to luxury fashion, many people strive and work hard their entire lives just to be able to afford clothing with a Gucci or Louis Vuitton logo. The clothing company logos in this video are among the best and most respected fashion logo designs in the entire world. Watch the top 10 most iconic luxury fashion logos in this video. 10 Secrets Hidden Inside Famous Logos

04:34
See more at www.brilliantnews.com Branding nowadays is absolutely everywhere you look. We are constantly bombarded with so many icons and logos that we rarely stop to look further into them, but there are some very interesting and bizarre secrets hiding within these 10 famous logos! 1. Hyundai Bet you think the H logo is just the first letter of the South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai? Of course you do! But it actually represents two figures: the happy client shaking hands with the Hyundai salesman, cleverly projecting the subliminal message of a successful car purchase. 2. Apple It was Rob Janoff who was tasked with creating the apple logo back in 1977. Janoff bought a bag of apples and spent the week sketching them, trying to represent the perfect angle where the fruit couldn´t be mistaken for a cherry. This was when he added a bite mark and stumbled across the similarity between Bite and Byte. This was definitely a selling point for Steve Jobs. 3. Vaio The first two letters in the computer company's name symbolize a digital waveform and the io is designed to look like a 1 and a 0, representing binary and the mix of analog and digital. Also the melody that sounds on startup actually derives from the dialtone sounds on a telephone keypad on typing V-A-I-O 4. Amazon Always aiming to please, Amazon designed their logo to represent a smile, projecting a sense of satifaction in their brand. Not only that, but the arrow also starts at ´a´ and finishes at 'z' implying that the company stocks every product you could possibly desire. 5. Toyota T-o-y-o-t-a. All the letters of the companies name can be found within the logo. But what does it represent? You're thinking A big strong buffalo's head or a cowboy with a hat, right? Wrong! It actually represents a needle and thread! This Japanese car manufacturer actually began making weaving machines and keeps its logo to this day! 6. Continental Sometimes overlooked, the continental logo is simple and clever. The first two letters are designed to symbolize a car wheel. 7. Toblerone This awkward-to-eat chocolate treat doesn't just have a simple mountain in its logo. Toblerone is made in Bern, Switzerland, so it´s no surprise to see one of the Swiss alps in its logo. But it also hides a secret bear hidden in the mountain, as Bern is known as the city of bears and the bear symbol is heavily decorated throughout the city. 8. BMW The German motor company started out making airplanes in 1916 and many think that the checker pattern in its logo represents the spinning propellers of an airplane. But it is actually just the design of the Bavarian flag, the part of Germany where the company originated. 9. Domino's Pizza In 1960 College dropout Tom Monaghan borrowed $900 to by a tiny pizza placed called Dominic's. 5 years later he bought 2 more locations. The former owner refused Tom the permission to use his name in the franchise so Tom turned it into Domino's. The dice in the logo represent the first restaurant that he bought, followed by the next two, and he had planned on adding numbers on every new opening. That was before he realized how big the franchise would become. 10. Unilever Who is Unilever, right? It's actually a huge corporation which owns over 400 famous brands. You've only got to look on the back of any of these popular products to find their logo hiding there. (Axe, Lipton, Ben and Jerry's, Dove, Heartbrand, Hellman's) But that's not all, the actual unilever logo is made up of 25 smaller logos, each with a rich meaning. A strand of hair or an icecream representing various brands, to more obscure references, like this bee... Which of these logos surprised you the most? Comment Below!

I made 7 logo options for a clothing brand!

10:05
Hey design champions! Today I'm in the early stages of creating a logo for a fashion and lifestyle brand called free candy brand. The inspiration is street style with a little bit of art added into it. I made seven initial design options just to get a feel for the direction that they would like to go in : ) I'm hoping this will help point me into the right direction for when I make the final logo options. I'd love to get your input on these ones if you have time! When Should I Trademark My Name or Logo? - All Up In Yo' Business

03:56
Ready to get serious about protecting your brand? Check out our Brand Bombshell trademark registration package at http://bit.ly/30opYSd. Contact Aiden and learn more at www.180lawco.com. Someone asked me recently when is the best time to trademark your business name or logo. The simple answer: As soon as possible! Really, in general, the sooner the better for filing a trademark for your business name or logo. I discussed in a previous video that you have some trademark rights under common law even if you never register it with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). But, having a registered trademark is infinitely better and it makes your trademark rights a lot stronger. So, even though you might have a common law trademark in something, its always better to actually register the trademark if you can. To register a trademark, you do have to be actively using whatever the trademark is in commerce. So, if your business is already established, i.e., you have a website or marketing materials using your business name or logo that you are trying to trademark, then you are actively using it in commerce and that will work in your favor when you try to get it registered. If you’re not quite there yet, for example, maybe all you have so far is a great logo, you can still file an application for the trademark. However it is an “intent to use” application… and it is exactly what it sounds like. It means that you are intending to use whatever the trademark is. So, that will buy you some time in being able to actively use that trademark in commerce, but still getting that protection if your trademark is ultimately registered. So, even if your business is not actively started yet, you can, in most cases, still file that intent to use application to get a head start on that trademark registration. So, simply put, the sooner you can file a trademark application, the better off you are. It basically gets you first in line in priority of using that trademark, assuming no one else has already used it. And if you are still getting your business started, you can file that intent to use application in order to get a little extra time for you to start using it actively in commerce. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve and color has meaning behind it. Here are 17 famous logos with hidden meanings that we never noticed before. Fascinating! 17. Hyundai Many people are inclined to think that the logo of the South Korean conglomerate Hyundai is simply the first letter of its name. But actually, the letter ’Н’ symbolises two people (a client and a representative of the company) shaking hands. 16. Adidas The name Adidas is derived from that of its founder, Adolf Dassler. The company’s logo has changed over time, but it’s always included three stripes. The current configuration is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolises a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges which all athletes have to overcome. 15. Apple Rob Yanov, the designer who created with the world-famous Apple company logo, has explained how he came up with the idea: ’I bought a whole bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Taking a bite out of an apple was part of the experiment, and completely by coincidence I realised that ’bite’ sounded exactly the same as the computer term ’byte’. 14. Sony Vaio The first two letters of the logo of Sony Vaio make up a wave, which represents an analogue symbol, whereas the last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. 13. Amazon At first glance, Amazon’s logo appears to be nothing special. But it was designed with the philosophy of the company in mind. The orange arrow is similar to a smile, as the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product imaginable (’from A to Z’). 12. Baskin-Robbins The pink-colored areas of the "BR" part of the logo here make up the number 31, which is the number of different flavors of ice cream that Baskin-Robbins used to famously sell. 11. Toyota Many people have compared the logo of the Japanese car-producer Toyota to the image of a cowboy wearing a stereotypical hat. But it actually represents a stylised image of the eye of a needle with a thread passed through it. This is a hint at the company’s past — of a time when it used to produce weaving machines. At the same time, the individual parts of the logo also spell out the letters of the company’s name. 8. Pinterest The logo of the popular internet site Pinterest, which people use to collect images they like from across net and ’pin’ them to their online notice board, has the image of a pin hidden in the letter P. 6. Toblerone Toblerone, the famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, includes a silhouette of a bear in its logo, on account of the fact that Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. 5. BMW It’s often supposed that the central part of the BMW logo symbolizes the rotating blades of an airplane, in line with the company’s early history of aviation technology, but it is in fact simply a part of the Bavarian flag — the area of Germany where the company originated. 4. LG The logo of the South Korean electronics company LG is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to maintain ordinary, human relations with its customers. 3. Evernote Elephants are known for having impressive memories, including their ability to remember both faces and events. It’s for this reason that Evernote, a note-taking application, uses an image of the animal as part of its logo. 1. Pepsi 2. Coca-Cola

Number 3: Decide WHO will own the trademark. Is it you personally? Your company? It can be either, but you need to make sure your decision makes sense from business perspective. Number 4: Decide WHERE you want to trademark your brand. It doesn’t matter where you are. It doesn’t matter where your company is incorporated. What matters is, where do most of your customers come from now or will in the near future. You need to look at your most important markets and trademark your brand there. Number 5: Decide WHEN you want to trademark your brand. You should trademark your brand in your home country as soon as humanly possible. It is often too late but never too early to protect your brand. A great deal of very successful brands were trademarked BEFORE launch. That’s when it’s the easiest to protect your brand—as long as it’s trademarkable. Number 6: Decide WHICH products and services your trademark application would cover. Trademarks don’t give you a monopoly over your name, logo, or tagline themselves. Trademarks give you a monopoly over the mental link between your brand AND the products and services you have listed in your trademark application. For example, Apple doesn’t own the word “Apple.” They own the word “Apple” in connection with computers, phones, software and stuff like that. But it doesn’t mean they can stop someone from calling their excavators “Apple”. Number 7: Decide HOW you will be filing your trademark application. Basically, there are 4 ways to do it. You can do it yourself. The danger is that most business owners, however smart and experienced they are as business owners, don’t know enough specifics about trademark laws to go through the whole process successfully. In case you don’t know, it takes on average 14 months to register a trademark in the United States and 18 months on average to register a trademark in Canada. During these long months, you would be communicating with the Trademarks Office. And if you don’t know what you’re doing, you will probably end up with nothing. The second option is to use online filing websites, which basically have developed software that makes it easier for you to understand what should go where into your trademark application. The problem with this option is that they are not representing you. The third option is to use a traditional law firm. The problem with this option is unpredictability. And finally, the forth option, you’re welcome to file your trademarks through Trademark Factory. Not only will we conduct a comprehensive trademark search to tell you exactly whether your brand is trademarkable FOR FREE, we will also offer you our most popular package All-Inclusive. It’s basically one flat fee for our services that covers everything from start to finish. You will never see another invoice from us. And for most trademarks we file, we will actually also offer a 100% money-back guarantee. Which means that if after spending as much time as necessary trying to come up with a winning argument, if we then lose, you will get all your money back. We’re the only firm in the world that does this. And if you have a brand you want to protect, fill out the form at trademarkfactory.com—and we’ll get the process started. How to Get a Trademark for My Logo and Brand Name - Entertainment Law Asked & Answered

05:15
A web visitor wrote in: I have created a Logo with a generic phrase for my apparel company, with a design that indicates just what it means by utilizing a letter as part of the graphic. I would like to use this both nationally and internationally as soon as make sure that I secure the trademark for it how do I go about getting the trademark registered? He goes on to ask me to Suggest the proper or best business structure to maximize profit, minimize liability and protect my assets from taxes and judgements, so he will have the most latitude to operate his business on a global scale with minimal risks. Well, this is a great, and complex question. First off, a trademark is... A distinctive word, symbol, or phrase that's affixed to goods or services in commerce as an indicator to identify their source or origin. Trademarks are Brands... Just like the brands that used to be burned into the hides of cattle to identify the ranch they came from. You acquire trademark rights by actually using the mark in interstate commerce to sell goods or services. Trademarks protect only against others using the same or confusingly similar marks in the same class of goods and services. So, if you have a trademark for a particular brand of medical device, you probably can't prevent the same mark being used for a line of shoes, or as a title for a TV series... Now, because we are talking about what the person describes as a "generic phrase" it's probably not distinctive enough for trademark registration just by itself. But, the inclusion of a stylized letter and distinctive design might make it registrable as a logo design. Now, the process isn't that hard. Nowadays, we do the applications online, and it's a step by step process. But it can be tricky because how you complete the application can have a big impact on whether or not the application gets approved. You might, for example, need to disclaim certain aspects of the mark, like the generic phrase in our readers’ situation. Or, selecting the right kinds of specimens of use to ensure maximum coverage and protection. It's also possible to go too narrow or too broad in the description of goods and services and risk being underwrote the, or possibly losing your mark later if you're discovers to have overstated the scope of your use of the mark. The best way to ensure your trademark gets registered, and you get all the benefits and protections, is to have a lawyer prepare the application for you. Those of us who do this a lot have learned about all the problem areas, and have a handle on the best practices to get things done right. My experience is that folks who do it themselves have their applications rejected more often, and then, unfortunately have to hire me to fix the problems they encounter. That usually costs as much or more than they'd have paid me to do the registration in the first place. Your trademarks, your brands, may someday be the most valuable assets your business owns. So, it makes sense to invest a little bit now to protect them, when doing so is relatively easy. Rather than paying a lot to clean up messes later. --- So, what's the proper or best business structure to maximize profit, minimize liability and protect assets from taxes and judgements? Well, there are several kinds of legal structures that can help on this. The most common, and most established is the corporation, which provides insulation from liability for shareholders. But corporations come with some administrative hoops you need to jump through, and they have to pay taxes separately, so income can sometimes be taxed twice. Sub chapter S corporations are for small, closely held companies, like family owned enterprises, and similar, where there are a small handful of shareholders... These corporations can be taxed like a partnership, where profits pass through directly to shareholders, so that double taxation doesn't happen. But these corporations also have the administrative hoops I mentioned before. An LLC offers most of the advantages of corporations, but can be taxed as a pass through entity, and don't have the same administrative hoops, but they’re not as well established forms of entities, and can have other tricky aspects. The bottom line is, I just can't give a general answer here. Every business is different, so you need to consult with an experienced business attorney (like me) who can help evaluate the situation and advise you accordingly. Getting this stuff right is important, and it's always best to handle these things as you're starting up, so you don't wind up having to backtrack, or unwind transactions later on when your structure changes. Invest a bit now, so you don't overspend on fixes later. And that’s going to do it for this video… If you have a question you'd like to see here on Asked and Answered, just visit http://firemark.com/questions and let me know. See you next time!

What is a Brand? The Difference Between a Brand and a Logo

03:44
The difference between a brand and a logo; between deliberate branding, and branding by default; and how you, the entrepreneur, have the power to shape and persuade the overall brand image by focusing on what's positive, and projecting your unique vision for the company's future. ====================================== Free branding report: http://www.fuelblue.com/lp/brand Twitter: https://twitter.com/fuelblue Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fuelblueagency ====================================== What is a brand? What’s the difference between a brand and a logo? What’s the difference between deliberate branding, and branding by default? Do you know? Well if you don’t, then you’re probably branding by default. That’s not good. ----- OK, so what exactly is a brand? Because it’s not your logo. Your logo is a graphical representation of your brand. It’s the main visual ambassador of your brand, and the entire basis of your visual brand image, or your corporate identity. Wow, that was a lot of big words, but what do they all mean? Well let’s see if we can’t make sense of all that. Let’s start with the word brand. Would it surprise you to learn that a brand is really nothing more than a thought? So in essence, it’s energy. A company’s brand IS what its best customer thinks of it. What its least happy customer thinks of it. What its prospects think of it. What its industry thinks of it. What its employees, partners, vendors, and contractors think of it. And perhaps most overlooked, what the entrepreneur behind the company thinks of it. When you combine all of those thoughts - all that energy - into one focused thought, or the average of all of those opinions, then you come up with the overall brand. And here lies the magic - the difference between branding your company deliberately, or by default. You, as the entrepreneur, have the mental image of the company in its best light - as you see it in reality, AND its full potential. Most of those other thoughts or opinions are based on the past. Someone’s experience with a company instills an image of the brand in their minds. It’s the past. It’s over. Good or bad, it’s done. But YOU see beyond the past and present. You see the future of your business. You see beyond what is and can visualize what can be. Nobody else is going to do that. When you allow your brand to be determined by other people’s opinions, that’s branding by default. But when you project your future image so others can see it, and feel it, and believe in it - that’s deliberate branding. Being able to not only have a vision of your company’s future - it’s potential, it’s promise - but being able to share it with all interested parties so that they can get their energy behind it too. That’s the power of branding. The logo then becomes the visual metaphor of that image. And when people in your world see that icon, they don’t just recognize a company - they remember the feeling behind that brand. It’s all energy. It’s all about making an emotional connection to people, and getting them to rally their energy behind your vision. =================================== Fuelblue TV is a free video series for technical B2B CEOs and CMOs. 10 Mistakes and Secrets You Never Knew About Famous Logos

08:25
You’d think that the most successful companies in the world invest good money for their logos to be picture-perfect, yet even Google isn’t immune to messing up a logo design. Pay attention to 10 super famous company logos that are hiding something or have design fails and mistakes in them. We all know what the White House looks like, and you’d think there’d be no possible difficulties recreating it in an image. However, there were at least 3 attempts to create a logo, all of which resulted in mistakes. Wikipedia’s logo representing knowledge has a really embarrassing mistake right in the middle of the image! You wouldn’t catch it unless you know Chinese, so we’ll let you in on the big secret. Some people saw a man bending over vomiting in the London Olympics logo, while others were joking that it looked like Lisa Simpson in a compromising position. Salvador Dali hired to design the Chupa Chups logo put the brand’s name on a bright daisy and insisted that the logo be placed on top of the wrapper so that everyone could see it. And it’s basically stayed the same since then! When asked about the imperfection of letter “G” in their logo, Google chose the best route a person can when explaining his or her mistakes. They simply said that they’re aware of the inaccurate “G”, but that was all part of the plan! This slight imperfection makes their image playful and approachable. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS The White House 0:38 Wendy’s 1:29 Wikipedia 2:20 Hershey’s Kisses 3:28 The London Olympics 3:54 7-Eleven 4:42 Chupa Chups 5:17 Walt Disney 6:01 Pepsi 6:47 Google 7:17 SUMMARY -The designers of the White House’s logo made mistakes depicting the arch shape, mixed up the order of the windows and even lost pillars on the roof. -You might see nothing special in Wendy’s white and blue striped collar, but a closer look will reveal the word “mom” right in the center. -Wikipedia logo’s designer meant to write the Chinese word “wi”, but one tiny yet extra stroke made the symbol gibberish. -Lean your head towards your left shoulder, and you’ll get a sweet surprise: a chocolate kiss between the “K” and “I”. -Iranian participants in the London Olympic Games were upset by the peculiar style of the numbers 2012 because they read the word “Zion” in it. -All the letters in the word “eleven” in 7-Eleven logo are capitalized, except for one: the “n”. -The creator of Chupa Chups Spaniard Enric Bernat picked the most famous surrealist artist in the world Salvador Dali himself to design the new brand logo. -Those elegant swirls in the “W”, “i” and “y” in Disney logo look exactly like three sixes in a row. -If you wanna see what Pepsi can potentially do to you, just add a little circle on top of its logo, some arms and legs, and voila. -The letter “G” in Google logo doesn’t look the way it should. It’s not the complete perfect circle it’s supposed to be, and the inner circle is also far from ideal.
