Pass by value and Pass by reference (Animated)

07:09
The Pass by reference method of passing arguments to a function copies the reference of an argument into the formal parameter. Inside the function, the reference is used to access the actual argument used in the call. This means that changes made to the parameter affect the passed argument. Pass by value means you are making a copy in memory of the actual parameter's value that is passed in, a copy of the contents of the actual parameter. Use pass by value when when you are only "using" the parameter for some computation, not changing it for the client program. Music: Cute Music by BENSOUND http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-... My CPU / Computer: Hardware Stack, Compilers, Java Simulator, and A Different Version of Logisim

10:18
This video shows the addition of a hardware call stack to my CPU which allows for easy subroutine calls. Also gives an introduction on writing a compiler - showing a working, simple one for this CPU, etc. Also shows JAVA versions of my programs such as my graphical CPU/computer simulator for this CPU, and a different version of Logisim. And, as a bonus, some nice eye candy. This CPU is based on the 16 instruction microprocessor I designed for a homework assignment, but is now up to 102 instructions and counting. My Logisim CPU / Computer: Hardware User Stack for Easy Subroutine Parameter Passing and Recursion

10:10
This video shows the addition of a hardware user stack to my CPU which allows for easy subroutine parameter passing, recursion, and local variables. To demonstrate this, I wrote a recursive factorial calculator, and improved my raytracer adding refraction and multiple levels of reflection/refraction. And, as a bonus, some nice eye candy. In my previous Logisim video, I showed the addition of a hardware call stack. These two stacks together make subroutine calls easier. This CPU is based on the 16 instruction microprocessor I designed for a homework assignment, but is now up to 105 instructions and counting. Debugging sql server stored procedures

15:11
debugging in ssms debugging t-sql code t sql debug stored procedure sql server management studio debug stored procedure how to debug t sql debug in sql server management studio In this video we will discuss how to debug stored procedures in SQL Server. Setting up the Debugger in SSMS : If you have connected to SQL Server using (local) or . (period), and when you start the debugger you will get the following error Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not connect to computer. To fix this error, use the computer name to connect to the SQL Server instead of using (local) or . For the examples in this video we will be using the following stored procedure. Create procedure spPrintEvenNumbers @Target int as Begin Declare @StartNumber int Set @StartNumber = 1 while(@StartNumber [ @Target) Begin If(@StartNumber%2 = 0) Begin Print @StartNumber End Set @StartNumber = @StartNumber + 1 End Print 'Finished printing even numbers till ' + RTRIM(@Target) End Connect to SQL Server using your computer name, and then execute the above code to create the stored procedure. At this point, open a New Query window. Copy and paste the following T-SQL code to execute the stored procedure. DECLARE @TargetNumber INT SET @TargetNumber = 10 EXECUTE spPrintEvenNumbers @TargetNumber Print 'Done' Starting the Debugger in SSMS : There are 2 ways to start the debugger 1. In SSMS, click on the Debug Menu and select Start Debugging 2. Use the keyboard shortcut ALT + F5 At this point you should have the debugger running. The line that is about to be executed is marked with an yellow arrow Step Over, Step into and Step Out in SSMS : You can find the keyboard shortcuts in the Debug menu in SSMS. Let us understand what Step Over, Step into and Step Out does when debugging the following piece of code 1. There is no difference when you STEP INTO (F11) or STEP OVER (F10) the code on LINE 2 2. On LINE 3, we are calling a Stored Procedure. On this statement if we press F10 (STEP OVER), it won't give us the opportunity to debug the stored procedure code. To be able to debug the stored procedure code you will have to STEP INTO it by pressing F11. 3. If the debugger is in the stored procedure, and you don't want to debug line by line with in that stored procedure, you can STEP OUT of it by pressing SHIFT + F11. When you do this, the debugger completes the execution of the stored procedure and waits on the next line in the main query, i.e on LINE 4 in this example. To stop debugging : There are 2 ways to stop debugging 1. In SSMS, click on the Debug Menu and select Stop Debugging 2. Use the keyboard shortcut SHIFT + F5 Show Next Statement shows the next statement that the debugger is about to execute. Run to Cursor command executes all the statements in a batch up to the current cursor position Locals Window in SSMS : Displays the current values of variables and parameters If you cannot see the locals window or if you have closed it and if you want to open it, you can do so using the following menu option. Locals window is only available if you are in DEBUG mode. Watch Window in SSMS : Just like Locals window, Watch window is used to watch the values of variables. You can add and remove variables from the watch window. To add a variable to the Watch Window, right click on the variable and select "Add Watch" option from the context menu. Call Stack Window in SSMS : Allows you to navigate up and down the call stack to see what values your application is storing at different levels. It's an invaluable tool for determining why your code is doing what it's doing. Immediate Window in SSMS : Very helpful during debugging to evaluate expressions, and print variable values. To clear immediate window type ]cls and press enter. Breakpoints in SSMS : There are 2 ways to set a breakpoint in SSMS. 1. By clicking on the grey margin on the left hand side in SSMS (to remove click again) 2. By pressing F9 (to remove press F9 again) Enable, Disable or Delete all breakpoints : There are 2 ways to Enable, Disable or Delete all breakpoints 1. From the Debug menu 2. From the Breakpoints window. To view Breakpoints window select Debug =] Windows =] Breakpoints or use the keyboard shortcut ALT + CTRL + B Conditional Breakpoint : Conditional Breakpoints are hit only when the specified condition is met. These are extremely useful when you have some kind of a loop and you want to break, only when the loop variable has a specific value (For example loop varible = 100). How to set a conditional break point in SSMS : 1. Right click on the Breakpoint and select Condition from the context menu 2. In the Breakpoint window specify the condition Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/debugging-sql-server-stored-procedures.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/debugging-sql-server-stored-procedures_28.html

Hey everyone! Thank you for all the comments I've been getting recently. It really makes my day to go on and see all the posts from you guys. So, the question that we are asking today is; What does my Twin Flame think of me? And what do they want our connection to be? About that error: ORA-06502: numeric or value error

12:11
"ORA-06502: numeric or value error" is one of the most commonly occurring and irritating errors for PL/SQL developers. Value too big for its "container"? Trying to stuff a non-numeric string value into a number through implicit conversion? [naughty naughty] In this video, Steven takes a close look at ORA-06502, exploring the ways it can be raised and how best to deal with those scenarios. ============================ Practically Perfect PL/SQL with Steven Feuerstein Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. Let me know what video you'd like for me to create for this Hibernate tutorial. --- Hibernate Tutorial Transcript In this video, we're going to test our JDBC connection. In the previous video, we did a lot of work with downloading JAR files. What I want to do hear is just do a very simple test to make sure that our JDBC connection works just fine. What we're going to do is create a very simple JDBC program, just to test everything out, just to make sure everything works out okay. What I would like to do, is move into this hibernate tutorial under the source. I'll create a new package. Right click, I'll say New Package. The actual name of the package, I'll call it com.luv2code.jdbc. Once you're happy with that package name, go ahead and click on finish. Now what I would like to do is actually create a new class. Again, right click on that package name. I'll say New Class. The actual name that I'll use for this class, I'll call it Testjdbc. Just very simple, and to the point. I'll also check the low item here for public static void, just so I can have a main method for this program. Then again, hit on Finish. All right, great. We have a very basic program here and let's go ahead and dig in. Let's start writing some code. I have a very simple try catch block. I have catch exception EXC. I'll do the EXC.print stack trace in case something goes wrong. Hopefully not. What I'll do is I'll just set up some variables here for my database connection information. First off, I'll set up my JDBC URL. I'll call it JDBC:mysequel:localhost3306/ I give the name of my database scheme, which is hbstudenttracker. Here I'll say use SSL=false. Just so that I don't get that pesky SSL warning that my sequel introduced recently, which is really annoying. Anyway, use SSL will make that go away. All right, so that's how JDBC URL, our user ID that we created, and we did all this stuff in previous slides here. Our user is HBStudent. We have this very secure system where our password is the same as our username. Only for training purposes, right? Okay, good. All right, so our URL, user ID, and password, great. We can use this information to actually give us a connection to a database. All right. Here, I'm just mentioning again that use SSL as equals false as to get rid of that pesky my sequel SSL warnings. All right, great. Let's go ahead and write some code here. I'm going to make use of my driver manager to get a connection. I'll also do some system out print lines here to tell myself what's going on here. All right, so I'll say system out print line, connecting to database. I'll just drop in that JDBC URL. Then I'll attempt to get a connection. Here I'll say connectionmycon=, and then I say driver manager.getconnection. I pass in my JDBC URL, my user ID, and my password. If that works out fine, then we have a successful connection. I can print a statement here saying connection successful. Yah-hoo. I like to have fun with this stuff. All right, so that's the piece there. Now, we need to fix some of our imports here. I can just click on this red X. We need to do that import on java.sql, so choose the second option here. Import Connection, and java.sql. Select that item. Yeah, that takes care of the item then. We should be good to go here. All right, so just some very basic code here to test out our database connection. Let's go ahead and run this application. I just do a right click, Run As, Java Application. Then it's going to fire up, and say connection successful. Let me expand this window here, so you can see everything. Connecting to database, connection successful. This is great. This is just a confirmation that we have the correct URL, user ID, and password. Also, more importantly, is that JDBC driver that we have on our lib directory, is associated with our class path. Know that we can get a valid connection. [Snip] for complete transcript, select More ... Transcript This is the end of the Hibernate tutorial transcript.
