5. Capture call stack, error code, error stack, error backtrace.

05:59
Ideally, this is a total non-issue for you, because you simply invoke a generic logger procedure in your exception handlers (example and recommendation: download and use Logger, an open source utility that does almost anything and everything you can think of). But if you are about to write your own (or are using a home-grown logging utility), make sure that you cal and store in your log (likely a relational table), the values returned by: SQLCODE DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_CALL_STACK (or corresponding subprograms in 12.1's UTL_CALL_STACK package) - answers question "How did I get here?" DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_ERROR_STACK (or corresponding subprograms in 12.1's UTL_CALL_STACK package) - answers question "What is my error message/stack?" We recommend using this instead of SQLERRM. DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_ERROR_BACKTRACE (or corresponding subprograms in 12.1's UTL_CALL_STACK package) - answers question "On what line was the error raised?" In this third video in the series, Steven switches gears to talk about to properly handle exceptions: build or find a single reusable logging procedure and call that. Getting Started with PL/SQL Table Functions: Pipelined Table Functions

Pipelined table functions are table functions in which rows are returned or "piped" back to the calling query before the function has completed, avoiding the blocking behavior of normal PL/SQL functions and reduce PGA consumption. This video is part of the Oracle Dev Gym class "Getting Started with Table Functions". You can watch it independent of the class, but then you miss out on the tutorials and quizzes! So visit https://devgym.oracle.com/pls/apex/dg/class/getting-started-with-pl-sql-table-functions.html and register for the class! ======================================== Practically Perfect PL/SQL with Steven Feuerstein Copyright © 2018 Oracle and/or its affiliates. How to Setup Amazon Web Services EC2 Instance with Apache, PHP, MySQL

25:47
How to Setup Amazon Web Services EC2 Instance with Apache, PHP, MySQL Instructions: Go to http://aws.amazon.com/ and create a new account if you do not have an account already. A credit card or debit is required. Sign into your AWS account under console management. Select EC2 and create a new instance. Choose one of the Ubuntu AMIs, and leave everything default. Under Security groups, create a new security group with SSH and HTTP. Name your key and download. Under the terminal, maneuver to the key and chmod 400 to make sure that the permissions are correct. Under windows, you may have to run as administrator the command prompt or cygwin to chmod properly. Or you can use the command that I did, which was: chown :Users testTutorial.pem Then I did: chmod 400 testTutorial.pem Allows only me to read Then: ssh -i testTutorial.pem [email protected](public IP) Once you are on the Ubuntu AMI, you can start to mess around with the packages to install. I recommend the following: Run the command: sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 php5 mysql-server php5-mysql You can also get phpadmin if you would like. Remember to restart the apache service: service apache2 restart Then, run a secure installation of mysql: mysql_secure_installation Go put in your browser the public IP. It works! But what if you want to change the index.html Well, go cd ../../var/www In this directory www, you can edit the index.html sudo vim index.html You can change the index.html to anything you want using the editor of your choice. The site changes. Java Heap Dump Analysis - VisualVM Tutorial

04:43
In this tutorial I show you how to use VisualVM to perform a Java Heap Dump snapshot in a live executing Java application in eclipse IDE. Ahem… Let me ask…First….What is Java VisualVM? Java VisualVM is a tool that provides a visual interface for viewing detailed information about Java applications while they are running on a Java Virtual Machine (JVM), and for troubleshooting and profiling these applications. This includes objects allocated on the Heap, Thread state, Execution environment information, Stack etc. Great for debugging dog slow applications!! Ok cool, now what is a Heap Dump? A heap dump is a snapshot of the memory of a Java Process at a single point in time. This contains data about Java objects, classes in the heap, class, fields, references, class loader names, static content, Thread Stacks etc. And... Why would I create a Heap Dump? There are many, but here are my two favourites. When performing performance analysis on an application, performing a heap dump during certain execution phases will provide you will critical information on the state of the Java Process, such as object allocation on the heap and thread states. Second, when an application crashes due to a Java java.lang.OutOfMemoryError, you can enforce the JVM to perform a snapshot and capture the application’s state via a heap dump. This heap dump will typically be placed into a java_pid*[id].hprof file. You can then load the heap dump file into a visualizer to understand the java applications state – this provides a good insight and clue into why the program crashed. Although if your application is running on a cloud based ephemeral file system this may be tricky. But the majority of applications that require a heap dump for analysis are most likely not in the cloud and rather dedicated high performance data centers. Last one… You mentioned compressed Oops, whats that? Ill create another video but read this for now chum. http://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/technotes/guides/vm/performance-enhancements-7.html Don’t forget to subscribe for more tech content! Cheers! Push-Button Deployment of Oracle Applications and Database with OpenStack Murano

36:00
Traditional enterprise software deployment can be complex, time-consuming, and error-prone. OpenStack services provide a rich set of capabilities for automated deployment and configuration of raw compute, network, and storage, but have typically left the top of the stack to be managed by traditional configuration management (CM) tooling. With OpenStack Murano's abstraction capabilities, deployment time can be reduced from weeks and days to hours and minutes, without the requirement to develop a

From Java Code to Java Heap: Understanding the Memory Usage of Your Application

56:47
When you write and run Java code, the JVM makes several allocations on your behalf, but do you have an understanding of how much that is? This session provides insight into the memory usage of Java code, covering the memory overhead of putting "int" into an integer object and the cost of object delegation and the memory efficiency of the different collection types. It also gives you an understanding of the off-Java (native) heap memory usage of some types of Java objects, such as threads and sockets. Most importantly, the session covers how to determine where there are inefficiencies in your application and how to choose the right collections to improve your Java code. How to Install LAMP Stack (Linux, Apache, Mariadb, PHP) on Fedora 27 + webmin

The acronym LAMP refers to the first letters of Linux (operating system), Apache HTTP Server, MySQL (database software), and PHP, Perl or Python, principal components to build a viable general purpose web server. The exact combination of software included in a LAMP package may vary, especially with respect to the web scripting software, as Perl or Python are sometimes dropped from the stack. Similar terms exist for essentially the same software suite (AMP) running on other operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows (WAMP), Mac OS (MAMP), Solaris (SAMP), iSeries (iAMP), or OpenBSD (OAMP). Though the original authors of these programs did not design them all to work specifically with each other, the development philosophy and tool sets are shared and were developed in close conjunction. The software combination has become popular because it is free of cost, open-source, and therefore easily adaptable, and because of the ubiquity of its components which are bundled with most current Linux distributions. What Is The Sigfox Protocol Stack?

02:20
The SIGFOX protocol stack is the software used by connected devices modem to generate radio frames and thus transmit SIGFOX messages. The SIGFOX protocol stack which covers layers 1 to 4 of the OSI model is composed of frame, medium access control, and physical layers. The SIGFOX protocol stack is located between the connected device and the SIGFOX network. It’s embedded in the connected devices to enable the radio frame modulation and emission to transmit the message. The SIGFOX protocol stack is provided free of charge to modem manufacturers. It is embedded in millions of chipsets, system on chips or modules. No royalties are charged. Let’s have a look at the different layers of this Sigfox protocol stack. Firstly, the Frame layer gets the payload provided by the application layer and generates the radio frame in which a sequence number is systematically added. Secondly, we have the medium access control layer. This layer adds fields for identification of the device as well as other standard parameters such as the error detecting code. SIGFOX decided to remove any signaling for medium access control in the devices. This means that devices are not synchronized with the network, so they can seldom randomly access the physical resource. Lastly, the physical layer determines how the SIGFOX signals are going to be synthesized. It’s about modulation: DBPSK in uplink and GFSK in the downlink. The bitrate is 100 bps or 600 bps, depending on the operation region. The transmission power reaches, for example, a maximum of 14 dBm in the European countries or 22dBm in North and South America. Operation frequencies are also managed by this layer (for example around 900 megahertz in FCC-like regions and 868 megahertz in the European countries).

debugging in ssms debugging t-sql code t sql debug stored procedure sql server management studio debug stored procedure how to debug t sql debug in sql server management studio In this video we will discuss how to debug stored procedures in SQL Server. Setting up the Debugger in SSMS : If you have connected to SQL Server using (local) or . (period), and when you start the debugger you will get the following error Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not connect to computer. To fix this error, use the computer name to connect to the SQL Server instead of using (local) or . For the examples in this video we will be using the following stored procedure. Create procedure spPrintEvenNumbers @Target int as Begin Declare @StartNumber int Set @StartNumber = 1 while(@StartNumber [ @Target) Begin If(@StartNumber%2 = 0) Begin Print @StartNumber End Set @StartNumber = @StartNumber + 1 End Print 'Finished printing even numbers till ' + RTRIM(@Target) End Connect to SQL Server using your computer name, and then execute the above code to create the stored procedure. At this point, open a New Query window. Copy and paste the following T-SQL code to execute the stored procedure. DECLARE @TargetNumber INT SET @TargetNumber = 10 EXECUTE spPrintEvenNumbers @TargetNumber Print 'Done' Starting the Debugger in SSMS : There are 2 ways to start the debugger 1. In SSMS, click on the Debug Menu and select Start Debugging 2. Use the keyboard shortcut ALT + F5 At this point you should have the debugger running. The line that is about to be executed is marked with an yellow arrow Step Over, Step into and Step Out in SSMS : You can find the keyboard shortcuts in the Debug menu in SSMS. Let us understand what Step Over, Step into and Step Out does when debugging the following piece of code 1. There is no difference when you STEP INTO (F11) or STEP OVER (F10) the code on LINE 2 2. On LINE 3, we are calling a Stored Procedure. On this statement if we press F10 (STEP OVER), it won't give us the opportunity to debug the stored procedure code. To be able to debug the stored procedure code you will have to STEP INTO it by pressing F11. 3. If the debugger is in the stored procedure, and you don't want to debug line by line with in that stored procedure, you can STEP OUT of it by pressing SHIFT + F11. When you do this, the debugger completes the execution of the stored procedure and waits on the next line in the main query, i.e on LINE 4 in this example. To stop debugging : There are 2 ways to stop debugging 1. In SSMS, click on the Debug Menu and select Stop Debugging 2. Use the keyboard shortcut SHIFT + F5 Show Next Statement shows the next statement that the debugger is about to execute. Run to Cursor command executes all the statements in a batch up to the current cursor position Locals Window in SSMS : Displays the current values of variables and parameters If you cannot see the locals window or if you have closed it and if you want to open it, you can do so using the following menu option. Locals window is only available if you are in DEBUG mode. Watch Window in SSMS : Just like Locals window, Watch window is used to watch the values of variables. You can add and remove variables from the watch window. To add a variable to the Watch Window, right click on the variable and select "Add Watch" option from the context menu. Call Stack Window in SSMS : Allows you to navigate up and down the call stack to see what values your application is storing at different levels. It's an invaluable tool for determining why your code is doing what it's doing. Immediate Window in SSMS : Very helpful during debugging to evaluate expressions, and print variable values. To clear immediate window type ]cls and press enter. Breakpoints in SSMS : There are 2 ways to set a breakpoint in SSMS. 1. By clicking on the grey margin on the left hand side in SSMS (to remove click again) 2. By pressing F9 (to remove press F9 again) Enable, Disable or Delete all breakpoints : There are 2 ways to Enable, Disable or Delete all breakpoints 1. From the Debug menu 2. From the Breakpoints window. To view Breakpoints window select Debug =] Windows =] Breakpoints or use the keyboard shortcut ALT + CTRL + B Conditional Breakpoint : Conditional Breakpoints are hit only when the specified condition is met. These are extremely useful when you have some kind of a loop and you want to break, only when the loop variable has a specific value (For example loop varible = 100). How to set a conditional break point in SSMS : 1. Right click on the Breakpoint and select Condition from the context menu 2.
