MySQL 33 - Datetime, Date, Time Data Types

06:40
Next up on our MySQL to-do list is to learn about storing dates and times. There are various data types in MySQL for storing dates and times. It seems MySQL and databases likes to break everything up into multiple data types to make things more organized at the consequence of being confusing and annoying. This video is going to be talking about the DATETIME, DATE, and TIME data types. These are all used to store, you guessed it, dates and times. The one you choose depends on your needs. If you just need dates, choose DATE. If you just need times, choose TIME, if you need both stored together, choose DATETIME. Now you set a column one of these data types whenever you want every row for this field to have some sort of date, time or both…but how exactly is the data formatted? This requires us to understand some convention. For example, in the USA at least, if you have something like 4:30AM, by convention you know the hour is 4 and the minutes are 30. But this is just an agreed upon convention. MySQL has its own convention…For example 2017-02-02. The first thing is the year, the second is the month, and the third is the day. That is for the DATE. The convention for time is 22:54:30. The first is the hour (military time), the second is the minute, and the third is the seconds. Lastly, there can actually be fractions of seconds…up to microseconds! .123456. To use fractional seconds though you must specify to MySQL the precision of the TIME or DATETIME when you create it, for example DATETIME(6) would allow microsecond precision. How do you actually give a date to MySQL? By that I mean let's say you have a table with a column of DATETIME(6), and you want to give a value for that column, how do you format it? It's quoted. For example: '2017-02-02 22:54:30.333333' MySQL interprets this as a DATETIME. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

VLOOKUP Not Working? Convert Text to Date? (Excel Text to Columns)

04:55
This tutorial uses Excel's Text to Columns feature to address two common Excel problems. Problem 1: VLOOKUP formula doesn't work One common reason for your VLOOKUP formulas or SUMIFS formulas not working is that Excel doesn't recognize the numbers as numbers. It sees them as text. Even if you change the cell custom formatting from General to a Number, your formulas still don't work. This is a common issue when you import data to Excel from SAP or Oracle systems. Problem 2: Dates are not recognized as dates in Excel. - sometimes imported dates from other systems to Excel are seen as text or number but not as a date. Excel's text to column feature can convert these super fast into dates. ⯆ DOWNLOAD the workbook & read the article: https://www.xelplus.com/excel-text-to-columns/ LINKS to related videos: VLOOKUP - https://youtu.be/hwL6KKJP-_I ★ My Online Excel Courses ► https://courses.xelplus.com ✉ Subscribe & get my TOP 10 Excel formulas e-book for free https://www.xelplus.com/free-ebook/ EXCEL RESOURCES I Recommend: https://www.xelplus.com/resources/ Get Office 365: https://microsoft.msafflnk.net/15OEg Microsoft Surface: https://microsoft.msafflnk.net/c/1327040/451518/7593 GEAR Camera: https://amzn.to/2FLiFho Screen recorder: http://techsmith.pxf.io/c/1252781/347799/5161 Microphone: https://amzn.to/2DVKstA Lights: http://amzn.to/2eJKg1U More resources on my Amazon page: https://www.amazon.com/shop/leilagharani Note: This description contains affiliate links, which means at no additional cost to you, we will receive a small commission if you make a purchase using the links. How to : Use formatting in oracle sql

05:09
Perception is key! Once you retrieve your data, you should think about how you would like to view it. You can do a lot of formatting in Oracle SQL, which translates into saved time for you. After all who wants dirty data? Formatting is a presentation issue. It allows you to present the data you have gathered so that it looks good. And as someone once said, "Perception is key." I use the following 8 formatting tricks. There are many more, but the ones below are essential to know. Round and/or truncate the date field to the nearest month: SELECT SYSDATE, ROUND(SYSDATE, ‘Wed'), TRUNC(SYSDATE, ‘Wed') FROM u.agg_ia_clickstream SYSDATE ROUND(SYSDA TRUNC(SYDATE -------------- ------------------------------------------------ 31-Dec-2003 01-Jan-2004 01-Dec-2003 Rounding allows the date to be rounded up to the nearest month. Truncation allows the date of any value you specify to its minimum. The minimum value is 1, so 31-Dec was truncated to 1-Dec. The REPLACE function can be used to do a search and replace: REPLACE(string, search, replace) Extract data from a string using: SUBS(STRING, START[, length]) Find the length of a string: LENGTH(string) Add strings together: String1 ll String2 Trim unwanted spaces, numbers, and letters: Trim(string) Trim(character FROM string) To trim only characters to the right: RTRIM(string) To trim characters only to the left: LTRIM(string) To remove punctuation from both sides of a string: RTRIM(LTRIM(string,'.;!'),'.,!') Change capitalization of letters: To Change letters to upper case letters: UPPER(string) To change letters to lower case letters: LOWER(string) To use upper case for the first letter and lower case for other letters: INITCAP(string) Search and Replace: SELECT date, unique cookies DECODE (dma, 360, ‘Dayton', 560, ‘Toledo', 870, ‘Baton Rouge', Null, ‘Unknown') FROM u.agg_ia_clickstream In this example, 360 is replaced by Dayton, 560 is replaced by Toledo, etc. The 8 formatting tips above will help you make your data -- and hopefully you, by association -- look good. If you know other tips that are helpful, please let me know. Thank you for reading. Required Tools: Oracle SQL Deductive Skills

How to Use SAS - Lesson 3 - Importing External Data

16:06
Bitcoin donations are welcome: 1GGV3gbJeA83FWmz9hDfPri8EuqcUtodXy Mike's SAS Tutorials Lesson 3 Update: Many users have expressed an interest in using my cheat sheet. Ultimately, my goal was to encourage users to create their own cheat sheets to learn from. However, if you'd like to use mine, it is available for purchase at the following web page using PayPal: https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?i=1077465&c=single&cl=207650 This video series is intended to help you learn how to program using SAS for your statistical needs. Lesson 3 introduces the concept of permanent or external data sets and how to import them into SAS. I provide basic methods of importing permanent data sets using the INFILE statement and the IMPORT procedure (PROC IMPORT) for non-SAS based data files. I also discuss libraries and the LIBNAME statement to import SAS data directly using the SET statement. Finally, I show how one can save a SAS data set from the data step using LIBNAMEs in the DATA step. Helpful Notes: 1. The LIBNAME statement is used to point SAS towards a specific folder on your computer. 2. The INFILE statement "reads" data into SAS if it is of a certain format (usually comma, space, or tab delimited). 3. PROC IMPORT - imports data of any of several different file formats into SAS. 4. The SET statement imports data from a library into SAS at the DATA STEP. 5. The library name in a data step's data name "writes" data from SAS into your library folder using SAS's own file format system. Today's Code: data main; input x y z; cards; 1 2 3 7 8 9 ; run; proc contents data=main; run; proc print data=main; run; /* TEMPLATED CODE: .txt file type, with or without delimiters */ data [appropriate data set name here]; infile "[your file location here, including .txt extension]" LRECL=[a logical length of your data to emcompass ENTIRE data] DLM=','; input [variable names here] ; run; data infile_main; infile "C:\My SAS Files\main.txt"; input x y z; run; proc print data=infile_main; run; /* TEMPLATED CODE: Microsoft Excel (.xls) file type */ proc import out=[your data set name here] datafile='[your file location here, including .xls extension]' dbms=excel replace; *Optional statements are below; sheet='[specify sheet to obtain]'; getnames=[yes/no - first row = variable names]; mixed=[yes/no - refers to data types, if num AND char varibles, use yes]; usedate=[yes/no - read date formatted data as date formatted SAS data]; scantime=[yes/no - read in time formatted data as long as variable is not date format]; run; proc import out=imported_excel datafile='C:\My SAS Files\main.xls' dbms=excel replace; *Optional statements are below; sheet='Sheet1'; getnames=yes; run; proc print data=imported_excel; run; libname home "C:\My SAS Files\"; data sas_format; set home.main; run; data home.sas_format; set infile_main; run;

Output Format

01:12
This video covers the various output formats of Data Prep Studio, Monarch, Designer, Content Server and Automator. Talk Track: Data Prep Studio exports a table to CSV, Access, Qlik, Tableau, Datawatch Designer and Excel. In Classic Mode, you may export the table, report, Summaries, and even the Redaction Alias Map if your data has been redacted. The available export file types are Excel formats, Access databases, DBF, Datawatch Designer data source, and more. In Datawatch Designer, you may perform a Copy Data to get your data as comma separated values and you may view published dashboards on the web as well. In the Content Server, a report can be exported to PDF, text, csv, PRF, or an XLS summary or table. In Automator, you can export to a variety of formats like an Access Database, PDF, XLS and others. You may also output to an OLE DB or ODBC destination – such as a SQL database. Files may also be emailed via a Distribution, and you can upload data into a Content System document type, or into a Hive table. Finally you may also Output your data via Command Line.

Difference between rows and range

05:52
range vs rows in sql server difference between rows clause and range clause in sql server range clause vs rows clause in sql server sql server running total query running total example in sql server In this video we will discuss the difference between rows and range in SQL Server. This is continuation to Part 116. Please watch Part 116 from SQL Server tutorial before proceeding. Let us understand the difference with an example. We will use the following Employees table in this demo. SQL Script to create the Employees table Create Table Employees ( Id int primary key, Name nvarchar(50), Salary int ) Go Insert Into Employees Values (1, 'Mark', 1000) Insert Into Employees Values (2, 'John', 2000) Insert Into Employees Values (3, 'Pam', 3000) Insert Into Employees Values (4, 'Sara', 4000) Insert Into Employees Values (5, 'Todd', 5000) Go Calculate the running total of Salary and display it against every employee row The following query calculates the running total. We have not specified an explicit value for ROWS or RANGE clause. SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees So the above query is using the default value which is RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW This means the above query can be re-written using an explicit value for ROWS or RANGE clause as shown below. SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees We can also achieve the same result, by replacing RANGE with ROWS SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary ROWS BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees What is the difference between ROWS and RANGE To understand the difference we need some duplicate values for the Salary column in the Employees table. Execute the following UPDATE script to introduce duplicate values in the Salary column Update Employees set Salary = 1000 where Id = 2 Update Employees set Salary = 3000 where Id = 4 Go Now execute the following query. Notice that we get the running total as expected. SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary ROWS BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees The following query uses RANGE instead of ROWS SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees Notice we don't get the running total as expected. So, the main difference between ROWS and RANGE is in the way duplicate rows are treated. ROWS treat duplicates as distinct values, where as RANGE treats them as a single entity. All together side by side. The following query shows how running total changes 1. When no value is specified for ROWS or RANGE clause 2. When RANGE clause is used explicitly with it's default value 3. When ROWS clause is used instead of RANGE clause SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary) AS [Default], SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS [Range], SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary ROWS BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS [Rows] FROM Employees Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/10/difference-between-rows-and-range.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/10/difference-between-rows-and-range_8.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists
