Build Web, Mobile, and Desktop Applications with Oracle JET, Oracle Cloud, and Electron

42:03
https://developer.oracle.com | Jerry Ward, Managing Partner, Viscosity North America. Erik Espinoza, Solutions Architect, Viscosity North America. You can now use a single framework and codebase to build your web, mobile, and desktop applications. Oracle JavaScript Extension Toolkit (Oracle JET) paired with Oracle Cloud Platform and DBaaS make it possible. This session demonstrates a timekeeping application written once but running as (1) a web application, (2) a native mobile application on iOS and Android using Apache Cordova, and (3) an offline desktop application using Electron (Chromium and Node.js). Not only is it faster and cheaper to build your applications with Oracle JET but also your apps will inherit the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) elements that so many are familiar with in Oracle’s other SaaS and PaS offerings. https://developer.oracle.com

Oracle APEX - Make Mobile Application

03:51
Mobile applications are designed to run specifically on smartphone devices and hence they must be built with extremely minimal, semantic HTML that is optimized for mobile connections. Mobile applications developed with Oracle Application Express are browser-based applications that run inside the browser on the mobile device. Therefore, these applications must have a connection in order to communicate with the Oracle Database and cannot operate in a disconnected environment. Mobile devices that have HTML5 capabilities can utilize all of the capabilities that can be built into the applications, including HTML5 date-pickers, sub-types that display different keypads based on field definition, and so. Older devices will still render the application they will offer less advanced features. The major advantage of developing browser-based applications is that you only need to develop them once for the majority of mobile devices. To support mobile application development, Oracle Application Express incorporates jQuery Mobile. jQuery Mobile-based web pages use a lightweight framework that enables you to create compact and minimalistic web sites that include only a few images and CSS files. Using jQuery Mobile, these applications can run on the following mobile operating systems: iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile.

Building Oracle MAF Application with Offline Sync against Oracle Mobile Cloud Service

17:03
This video shows you how easy and fast it is to create a mobile application that supports offline mode using MAF, Oracle’s Mobile Application Framework, and the A-team Mobile Persistence Accelerator. The application will connect to Oracle’s Mobile Cloud Service. The A-Team Mobile Persistence Accelerator (AMPA) is a lightweight persistence and data synchronization framework, and is available on GitHub under open source license . AMPA eases the consumption of RESTful services, in particular those coming from MCS, and provides a complete persistence layer that allows you to use the mobile application in offline mode. You can read and write data while not connected to the internet, and synchronize any pending data changes later when you are online again. The design-time wizards that are integrated with JDeveloper enable you to build a fully functional mobile application within minutes as is shown in this video. To download latest AMPA build with MCS support as shown in video, go to GitHub, select development branch: https://github.com/oracle/mobile-persistence/tree/development Installation instructions can be found in the wiki: https://github.com/oracle/mobile-persistence/wiki/Installation-Instructions

Going mobile with Oracle JET in the Cloud

59:11
https://developer.oracle.com/code/online | Luc Bors: Oracle JET hybrid mobile development is almost exactly the same as Oracle JET web development. The Apache Cordova command-line interface and the Oracle JET tooling enables you to setup, build and serve JET hybrid mobile apps in exactly the same way as you would a JET web app. There are definitely mobile specific tasks (such as integrating the camera or GPS) but in general an Oracle JET mobile app is pretty much the same as an Oracle JET web app. The biggest difference is that it is deployed to a mobile device. In this session you will learn how to develop a JET mobile app that uses features of Oracle Mobile Cloud service. You will see how to setup JET mobile, how to develop the app and how to combine Oracle JET and Oracle MCS in order to create a great Mobile app.
