If you’re tired of stuffing your clothing into your stuff sack for a pillow and waking up in the tent with a sore neck, you have to get an Aeros Pillow made my Sea to Summit. Weighing in under 3 oz., the weight you’re adding to your pack will be insignificant compared to the comfort that you will gain! If you’re concerned about weight, trade one pair of underwear for a pillow (it’s worth it!).
The only thing that I don’t like about the Aeros pillow is the fact that I didn’t use it sooner. With multiple designs to choose from, you are sure to be able to find the one that best suits your sleeping and or packing habits. On our recent Baja trip, Tyson took the Aeros Premium and I used the Aeros Ultra Light. There are a few small differences, but nothing significant that would make me choose one over the other (or maybe Tyson was keeping that a secret because he had the Premium pillow).
For the first few nights of using the Aeros pillows, we had to try out different fills of air to get the correct and perfect comfort level for our preference. You can make the pillows extremely stiff if you add a lot of air and if you don’t add very much, you can have a softer pillow. The inflate and deflate times are super fast and very simple to use. The design of the pillows, which is a scalloped shape, allows for the perfect fit against your shoulders if you’re a back sleeper.
The material used on the shell of the Aeros pillow is soft, comfortable, and breathable. The Premium pillow weighs in at 2.8oz, which is equivalent to about 1 and ½ Clif Bars. The Premium pillow includes synthetic padding, which is the main difference between the Premium and the Ultra Light pillows. The Ultralight weighs in at 2.1 oz., so again, comparable to a single Clif Bar.
The Aeros pillows are a must if you find yourself sleeping on the ground and are compact and small enough to stuff into your sleeping bag stuff sack. They’d even be a great travel companion whether you’re traveling by car or plane. There’s really no drawback to having an Aeros pillow along with you on your adventures! Check out Sea to Summit for all of you camping and adventuring needs including comfortable pillows, organization tools like stuff sacks, and even sleeping pads!
