This is a quick guide on how to remove the yellow / brown heat staining on exhausts.
You need to be very careful when using wire wool as it can scratch and mark the surface, always test in an inconspicuous area first. Also make sure that none of the wire wool gets anywhere near air filters, wiring, or similar. You really have to make sure that it also never gets near any towel that will be used on paintwork as it will instantly ruin it.
The tarnish will eventually return, however once the exhaust has been cleaned, it's easier to remove the heat staining the second time around.
This technique can easily be used on cars or motorbikes and works well on silencers and tailpipes.
