COLOMBIA, The Warmth Of A Smile

52:06
Our tour starts in the capital, Bogotá, before heading southward across the Andes as far as Popayàn. We then head back north to the coastline of the Caribbean Sea. Our journey takes us through some fabulous landscapes while stopping off to discover cities such as Cali, Medellin and Cartagena. Not forgetting the rural regions and encounters with Amerindians, plus some prestigious archaeological sites like the Ciudad Perdida (lost city). Our journey is by road, not by plane despite the long distances involved. This way we get a closer look at the daily life of local inhabitants and take in the wide variety of natural landscapes. Colombia is a vast country sandwiched between South and Central America. Notorious for its social and economic problems (poverty, drug-trafficking and armed militia forces), Colombia is actually a little-known country in that the majority of received images more often than not filter through news media reporting. What do we know about the country aside form the themes that make headline news in newspapers? Colombia happens to be a very rich country in terms of both landscapes and culture.

Colombia Travel Guide (HD)

07:25
Visit Colombia, Colombia trip, Colombia tourism, Colombia tours, Colombia vacations, Colombia travel, Colombia travel guide, Colombia holidays, Tourist attractions in Colombia, Colombia Tourism Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Colombia - Twice the size of France, and with a diversity of landscapes and cultures that would be hard to find even in countries five times its size, Colombia should by all rights be one of the world's top travel destinations. Pick a climate, and it's yours—if you find the light jacket weather of Bogotá cold, drive an hour down through the mountains and sunbathe next to the pool of your rented hacienda. If you don't want to sit still, head off into the Amazon or any of the country's other many inland jungles, snow-capped volcanoes, rocky deserts, endless plains, lush valleys, coffee plantations, alpine lakes, deserted beaches. For culture, intellectual Bogotá might lead the rest of Latin America in experimental theater, indie-rock, and just sheer volume of bookstores, but you could also get a completely alien education in an Amazonian malocca, or you could delve into the huge Latin music scene of salsa and cumbia, with the most exciting dance display being the enormous Carnival of Barranquilla. For history, wander the narrow streets of South America's original capital in Bogotá, check out old Spanish colonial provincial retreats like Villa de Leyva, trek through the thick jungle-covered mountains of the northeast to the Lost City of the Tayrona Indians. Walk the walls of Cartagena's achingly beautiful old city, looking over the fortified ramparts upon which the colonial history of South America pivoted. For nightlife, hot Cali is today's world capital of salsa, claiming that competitive distinction even over Colombia's other vibrant big city party scenes, which keep the music going long into the small hours of the morning. For dining, you'll find everything from the ubiquitous cheap, delicious Colombian home-style meals to world-class upscale and modern culinary arts in the big cities, with cuisines from all corners of the world represented. And for relaxing, there are gorgeous tropical beaches along Colombia's Caribbean and Pacific coasts, but you can find even more laidback and peaceful retreats on the idyllic and unspoilt Caribbean island of Providencia. The political violence has subsided substantially throughout the majority of the country and savvy travelers have already flocked here from around the world—come before everyone else catches on! See in Colombia ============== Much of Colombia is in the Andes, which means there is very nice mountainous scenery to be found. On the other hand, there are also nice beaches to be found in the lowlands. The altitude of some peaks mean that snow can be seen even though they lie in the tropics. Do in Colombia ============= There are a lot of things to do in Colombia, and you can find parties and celebrations wherever you go. Colombians especially love to dance, and if you don't know how, they'll happily teach you. Colombia is known for its exciting night life. There are many groups and agencies offering eco-tourism and it is very usual to find trekking plans (locally named 'caminatas' or 'excursiones') on weekend; many groups (named 'caminantes') offers cheaper one day excursion, special trips (on long weekends or during periods of vacation time (January, Holy Week, July, August, October, December) to different places in the country. Some recommended groups based out of Bogotá are: Viajar y Vivir, Fundación Sal Si Puedes, Caminantes del Retorno; there are many other. Patianchos in Medellín; Rastros in Bucaramanga. They usually offer guidance and transportation to the place; on long trips include lodging and other services. The recommendation is asking if the guide has the official certification.

Are You a Cocaine Tourist? | Colombia Safe Travels | World Nomads

04:26
Cocaine is one of Colombia’s most notorious exports. For those that have had a taste of the drug back home, the low prices in Colombia, plus TV series like Narcos, have created attractive reasons for some to travel to the country. But it’s important to know what you’re really buying into. Join World Nomads’ Stephanie Hunt as she discovers the mass damage the drug has caused Colombian society. Locals have a poor view of travelers that visit Colombia to buy drugs, as buying cocaine fuels the violence and destruction it's known for, and makes you part of the problem. Best Of Colombia 2019: Medellin, Cartagena & Bogota - Do Travels

03:41
We visited Colombia and were truly amazed by its beautiful landscapes, breathtaking beaches and wonderful people. Here is a montage of some epic scenes from our Colombian adventure. MEDELLIN: We visited the "comuna 13" region here. Once the most dangerous area in Medellin, it now showcases some of the best graffitis in the country and most importantly gives you the best view of the valley. CARTAGENA: We visited the famous Walled city: with squares, cobblestone streets and colorful colonial buildings. We visited the Bocagrande a more upscale area of Cartagena. Makes you feel like you are in South Beach Miami. BORA BORA: Private Island located around 40-50 minutes away from Cartagena. Must visit if you are looking to spend some alone time away from the loud streets of Cartagena. BOGOTA: For the Capital city of Colombia our must visit destination is "Monserrate". You can hike, jump on the train or take the chair lift to the top. The view is breathtaking, highly recommend going there at the sunset. Pope Francis Travels to Colombia to Encourage Peace Talks

00:39
This week, Pope Francis is traveling to the country of Colombia to encourage a continuing peace process that ended half a century of war between a string of governments and the guerrilla group FARC. Despite the conflict ending, it has still left the South American country deeply divided. According to Reuters, Francis will spend five days in Colombia, visiting the capital Bogota and the cities of Villavicencio, Medellin and Cartagena. The pope, who is originally from Argentina, previously delayed accepting invitations to visit Colombia until a legitimate peace process had begun. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/h5ZKJr9EO5o/pope-visits-colombia-to-boost-peace-process-after-50-years-of-war-idUSKCN1BE0MP http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

Quito Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

08:25
Quito, the capital of Ecuador, sits high in the Andes and straddles the equator, making it the closest national capital to the sun. San Francisco de Quito, as this harmonious city is officially called, is all about balance. Its World Heritage protected Old Town is contrasted by its progressive New Town. The New Town, or La Mariscal, is centered on the bustling Plaza del Quinde and has markets, trendy cafés and nightlife. The Plaza de la Independencia is the Civic heart of Old Town, is overlooked by the Municipal Palace, Archbishop’s Palace and Presidential Palace. Quito has a wealth of ornate churches, including the Santo Domingo Church, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Basilica de la Merced, de San Francisco Church, the Church of the Society of Jesus and the Basilica of the National Vow. There are two hills that are worth exploring: Panecillo Hill is famous for its winged statue known as the “Virgin of Quito.” Itchimbia Park has a contemporary Cultural Center and panoramic city views. The nearby Pichincha Volcano was once the setting of a historic battle that resulted in Quito’s liberation from Spain. But it’s the Cotopaxi Volcano, that is the Quito’s most famous landmark. While in the area, you can’t miss the Mitad del Mundo Monument and the Intiñan Solar Museum where you walk the line of the equator and be in two hemispheres at the same time. https://www.expedia.com/Quito.d6053672.Destination-Travel-Guides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/

Cartagena Colombia Travel Adventure

06:01
Cartagena, Colombia Travel Adventure with Elaine Sarantakos. This is a preview of my week in Cartagena. It all started when I found a cheap flight with Air Transat for $199 including tax from Toronto to Cartagena return! Cartagena is a magical city along the coast of Colombia. It is so picturesque with old Spanish colonial architecture. It location made it popular for pirates to come and attack. Today Cartagena is an UNESCO World Heritage Site meaning nothing can be destroyed, only restored. My stay included accommodation at both El Viajero Hostel & couchsurfing with a Colombian Host. I met so many wonderful people locals and backpackers! I felt safe walking the streets and travelling alone. I went to Playa Blanca & Islas de las Rosarias for the day. A bus tour to Castillo de San Felipe & El Convento de la Popa. I tried yummy Arepas! The fruit was just amazing! Next time I need to travel to Cali, Medellin, & Bogota. Please comment, like & subscribe. More Cartagena videos will soon be coming. Elaine Sarantakos, Fabulous Living Coach http://www.fabulouslivingcoach.com

Visiting Cali, Colombia – The World Capital of Salsa (Travel Vlog)

04:25
#colombia #travel #vlog #salsacapital #salsa I visited Cali for the first time and after a week of private lessons with a dance teacher I could almost sign up for the World Cup. Cali is the capital of the department of Cauca and one of the largest cities in Colombia and is known for being the world capital of salsa. I had a taxi driver telling me that everyone in the city could dance salsa. As a man, you would never find a wife unless you are proficient in the dance. My friends and dance teachers have a sensational dance school (http://www.salsapura.com/). They not only offer lessons, but also perform shows with their troupe and compete in competitions. Travel with me to get a quality and authentic Colombian experience. Book your trip to Cali at: ► https://www.pelecanus.com.co/plan-your-trip/ WHO AM I? My name is Frank and I am Swiss. I came to Colombia in 2015 to do an MBA in Bogota and start a business. When travelling after my first semester it became very clear that I would start a business related to tourism.
