Just tell us in the title “this is a commercial and not an instruction video!”. Paul C Buff wins my business again! 😛

i all know from watching this is that i need profoto
bonner man (4 months ago)
The worst video I've seen in a while.
vadimyakus (5 months ago)
The more tutorials I see the better my understanding is that lady photographers simply do not know how and when to use artificial lights LOL Even the most famous and recognizable ladies photogs are the same way... Don't get me wrong. The pictures are great, but they heavily rely on beauty of their models, quality of makeup, concepts of their shoots and final retouching of the images. Especially retouching!
Ben Grad (5 months ago)
Skip to about 2:20 to see the strobes and modifies used. (Don't bother though, because there's no actual lighting diagrams)

Beautiful lighting and color tone photography
Wiktoria Słowikowska (6 months ago)
just wasted 3min of my life.

Nikita Nikiti4 (7 months ago)
cool!!!!
Darren Chandler (7 months ago)
Learnt nothing. She uses proFoto D2s, did she mention she uses ProFoto D2s. She uses ProFoto D2s
James Gurley (8 months ago)
It's just a commercial.  With such a short running time, it would be hard to squeeze in the lighting type and placement.
nito2501 (8 months ago)
How come Jerry Ghionis does make such beautiful wedding pics with any of these artificial lights. Does that mean that he is a master, and these guys depend on lights?
Jay Medeiros (8 months ago)
This is really bad. It is a commercial for Profoto. I know it is solid gear.
vinohn (8 months ago)
Gorgeous model and a great Ad.
thenaje (9 months ago)
that beat tho... what track is this?
Walter (9 months ago)
This was not instruction it was a commercial. Zero lighting setup were explained.
Profoto (9 months ago)
Sorry for the confusion. Several people reacted the same way. This video is a part of an article, so please read the full story at https://profoto.com/int/profoto-stories/six-setups-for-beauty-lighting for detailed descriptions and lighting diagrams of each setup.
Victor Sidharta (9 months ago)
Maybe add a lighting diagram while showing the result would be very helpful
David Motta (9 months ago)
This is just an advert...
ALXNINJA (9 months ago)
i thought this would be a tutorial video not a commercial :/
Kzenon (9 months ago)
Great shots but poor video. There is little information as how the light were being used. Simply dropping part numbers does not do the magic.
AR Photoz photography (9 months ago)
Love the simplicity of this video and the focus on quality lighting regardless of setup. One day I’ll be able to afford a studio full of Profoto gear 👍🏾 great job Rossella
Jon Page (9 months ago)
this video was devoid of almost any useful information. this literally didn't reveal anything about actual setups. just profoto pandering.

Willy Villacorta (10 months ago)
Thanks for sharing the video. In terms of fashion industry, this video is old-fashion tutorial. Too much lightning (unnecesarilly) and over-retouched.
Ron Del Debbio (10 months ago)
Several lenses, one is your ' goto' lense the other is a. backup lens.
DIEZ919191 (11 months ago)
She used 85mm lens?
mary w (11 months ago)
make the video 6 minutes instead of 3 and give some meaningful information in it. this looked like a commercial. video filmed very well, model is stunning, photographer has great work, lights are great.. just work on better content.

I love this color of background - anyone know whats this background?
Jim Tincher (8 months ago)
It's sort of an egg shell...
Mark J (1 year ago)
Vanon obviously gets nice and varied results. But, the video fails to communicate to the viewer how she did it because it leaves out diagrams of the light setups. That misses the whole point of a tutorial. The video and audio are stylishly done. Alas, the key content is missing; style over substance doesn't cut it.
Mark J (11 months ago)
Thank you for pointing me to that link. That's what I was looking for and it's very informative.
Profoto (1 year ago)
Hi Mark, In the video description there is a link to the full story, which contains lighting diagrams of all the different setups. https://profoto.com/int/profoto-stories/six-setups-for-beauty-lighting

Yawn, hey what time is it? 1am?
Ron Del Debbio (1 year ago)
Beautiful models beautiful shots, soft light feel. Many other ways to achieve similar effect using different light modifiers, reflectors, v-flaps, panels, etc. this is just one approach., don't need 10k worth of flash, better to invest more in glass.
Larry Vaughn (10 months ago)
How many lenses does one need to make a headshot or head and shoulders shot?
Israel González (1 year ago)
So she has all this expensive light but can't shoot with L glass? smh tbh fam
blackjohnny0 (11 months ago)
You dont need profoto or expensive lenses to make good photos. Quantuum/Godox is enought.
smsoum (1 year ago)
fail
Saske Lee (1 year ago)
This was merely an informercial for profoto. They didn't even show u how they did the set ups. Psh
Saske Lee (1 year ago)
Thank you
aabbaa2000 (1 year ago)
These pictures look good, but I doubt the video is very helpful for a beginner trying to figure out how to create similar looks. Also, my initial impression is that, while the lighting is certainly lovely, all six lighting setups look pretty much alike, i.e. soft and beautiful. Use a soft light as your main source and maybe add some accent lights...I guess that's the takeaway.
blackjohnny0 (11 months ago)
Why? Its easy as fuck. Softboxes are easy and you can see here how they were setup.
Prestige Photo (1 year ago)
NewGuy G But there are not cheaper options in the video. 4x D2's = $7990 AIR TTL = $419 Beauty dish = $418 Taxes and softboxes, well over $10K I use Profoto. I love Profoto. But if you have $10K of lights and TTL, you should be able to get nice, soft, flat light. In auto mode. Same lighting as a Fongdong
NewGuy G (1 year ago)
Prestige Photo; there is no requirement to purchase $10K worth of Profoto lights to replicate this effect. You can easily purchase a far cheaper solution and do the EXACT same thing.
Prestige Photo (1 year ago)
Beginner? She is using $10K worth of Profoto lights! There is no beginner here.... the only photographer who would watch this video is someone who could not afford to step into this realm.. just sayin'.

Alex López (1 year ago)
Lovely images, Thank you.
Paul Tortora (1 year ago)
Rossella, your images are just exquisite. Beautiful light, pose, model and post.  Just wonderful.  Bravo.
G Botta (1 year ago)
Beautiful ! Great video. Maybe you should have mentioned in the video to go and look on the website for more info on the light setups :) Differences are very clear and I could clearly identify 5 different light setups in the final images. Congratulations to Miss Vanon. I will definetly try this at home 👍
Felix Wu (1 year ago)
Hmmm...nice results but it feels like the title should be "six setups to create one similar look".
Zardos Spinosa (1 year ago)
learnt zero, just some random person dribbling on about this and that, just a wank vid to me
Tahsin Reyhan (1 year ago)
that is such a noob photographer
NewGuy G (1 year ago)
As opposed to your work? Your best doesn't touch her worst...
ivancoart (1 year ago)
Vanon ... sounds almost like Canon. lol
Nick Sushkevich (1 year ago)
Absolutely boring result.

This just payed promotion video for the lights. Not even once did she talk about how she is using the light.

Too many lights they make the model look flat since there aren't any shadows.
Larry Vaughn (10 months ago)
Make up sometimes is used to create depth and shadows.
Darryl Lafferty (1 year ago)
Noting special here...would probably looked better with Elinchrom light modifiers.
Larry Vaughn (10 months ago)
Probably wouldn't be any difference.
Phil Jones (1 year ago)
Very nicely filmed, lovely light and amazing shots as always by Rosella! The blog is great and gives all the information a photographer needs to know about each lighting set-up. Good job!
Reza Hadian (1 year ago)
Very poor video in fact. Talking a lot without giving information about the setup itself. All the photographers know profoto by now. In my opinion the title doesn't match the content in the video.
vadimyakus (5 months ago)
The answer is simple: she has no clue! That's it.
oshawaxpress (8 months ago)
Why, don't you understand English?
Walter (9 months ago)
Oh I see their is a paper to read. This is helpful and well written but some of this information should have been incorporated into a longer video with a link to the article in the video. Thanks
