I'm Dreaming of Home (Hymne des Fraternises) - Joyeaux Noel soundtrack

2881 ratings | 634326 views
"I hear the mountain birds The sound of rivers singing A song I've often heard It flows through me now So clear and so loud I stand where I am And forever I'm dreaming of home I feel so alone, I'm dreaming of home It's carried in the air The breeze of early morning I see the land so fair My heart opens wide There's sadness inside I stand where I am And forever I'm dreaming of home I feel so alone, I'm dreaming of home This is no foreign sky I see no foreign light But far away am I From some peaceful land I'm longing to stand A hand in my hand ...forever I'm dreaming of home I feel so alone, I'm dreaming of home"

One hundred years and eight days ago, the guns were finally silenced and the boys who survived could finally go home. God rest those who died, and those who were never the same, after the First World War. Happy holidays, my brothers and sisters.

Stop the brotherhood wars. The White genocide is taken enough lives. We're being replaced by non-europeans now. 100 years of fall.
TheIcelandicPrincess (7 months ago)
1. Actually it was more around 5%, around 300.000 died and those are just the numbers of French colored troops, Germany had some too along with America and Britain :) 2. It's not synonymous, it's your personal opinion. 3. Tolerance of intolerance is cowardice and i'll be damned if i'll let racist scums fuck up this continent again. This continent survived two such events, it will not survive the third.
toocoolforu (7 months ago)
1. They represented less than 0.01% of troops. Quit your bias. 2. White is a synonym for European. Of course it's not 100% since Turks invaded and some korean have white skin. Yet again, quit with your exceptions and stupid nitpicking. 3. Your anti-racism is not welcome here. It's not the degenerate 1990s anymore, go back to mommy and respect free speech loser.
TheIcelandicPrincess (7 months ago)
1. Thousands of African troops fought for a free France. 2. Being white does not mean you're European. 3. Your racism is not welcomed here.

they only returned to war because the generals " forced them to" the first word war could have ended christmas 1914, if it was left to the soldiers , but those in higher power( well behind the firing line) forced the soldiers to continue fighting 4 more years

No more wars between us my European brothers! Germany, France and Great Britain share a history full of alliances and wars with and against each other. Our (European) history is the best history on our world. We had so much bloody and useless wars in the past on European ground. Now we have to stay strong together like brothers and fight those who want to destroy our peace and our Europe!!! Love from Germany ♥
Sir Leonor (14 days ago)
+Prussian Eagle May our european friendship last forever. Soon it we will be the 100th anniversery of the end great war. When we looked at such a carnage, it's sometime hard to find any meaning worth this bloodbath. But perhaps our frienship today is what was worth the sacrifice of millions of our brave soldiers. If our great grand father could see us today, I am certain that they would comfort and finaly know that their sacrifice was not for nothing. Que la paix et l'amitié règne pour toujours entre nous mes amis anglais et allemands! Best regards from France.

Why can't the world be peace, war only creates more conflict/problems, and creates more war. Why can't people just let it go. Why can't people be nice? Why are there terrorist? Why can't the world be a utopia for all?
LunaticThinker (2 years ago)
Money, resources, power, religion, ideologies. Whatever it is, I think humans will always come up with reasons to kill each other. That's just how it goes.
Annelise French (2 years ago)
+Kelvin Chan: i guess the same reason that we don't have peace/utopia in our homes.  if people can't even get along in their homes with their loved ones, how in the world can we expect it to be any different in the world?  as for terrorists, that's an evil corrupt ideology that needs to be greeted with force, just like the bully on the playground.  of course, calling something evil means that there is a standard of good to counter that.
+Kelvin Chan Just because there are always people upon us willing more and more and more... money, privileges ... and we fight in tehe name of supposed values or goals, but they look for their interests
Santiago de Paz Perez (3 years ago)

St. Thelonious the Monk this is indeed what happened except for the one Scotsman blinded by hatred who ended up killing an ally dressed as a German so he could visit his mother one last time.
+C Hintz According to the film, the soldiers on all sides who took part in the truce were transferred to other fronts and were replaced by other soldiers. We don't know what happened to those men who laid down their arms but I suspect they were no longer willing to kill.
C Hintz (1 year ago)
Even in this beautiful movie, they ended the truce after Christmas and returned to war. Peace is temporary. I long for peace, and will always long for it. But I know there is no Utopia.
Jason Zettervall (3 years ago)
Have you ever seen "Joyouex Noel?" It's a (admittedly dramatized) telling of the 1914 "Christmas Truce" during WWI. The soundtrack features a song called Hymne des Fraternisés, rendered in English as I'm Dreaming of Home. Technically it isn't a Christmas song, but it definitely fits the spirit of the holiday season and would be a beautiful piece to cover! For the season, or any time. Hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving and holiday as a family! (I also hope that folks will check out this great movie and that they'll enjoy it too. Just know it might not be appropriate for young children )

Watch the movie "Joyeux Noel". It's inspired by real facts.
Luke Cocchi (4 years ago)
I had never heard of this remarkable event happening until December of this year. I was a a Trace Adkins concert (for any of you that don't know he is a huge country artist here in the states) where he was performing his new Christmas album where he put together traditional Christmas songs and preformed them beautifully. Before each song, he would give it's history and some stories attached to it. He introduced Silent Night to us by explaining how it was created in a small town in Germany, and stayed mostly on that side of the Rhine and the Channel. So during the Christmas Truce the song spread as German troops sang it and the few allied men that knew it or could understand the tune passed it along. And within minutes a silent night filled with fear became a time of rejoicing and happiness as men who had fought each other for months remembered the dignity each human has. I wish more people my age (16) would take care in knowing about these events. If we are ever to question our faith in God or bonds of brotherhood as human beings, like many my age do, this should be a go to event. A true testament to the will and goodness of mankind. God Bless, Luke

One of my great-grandfather was a french soldier "un Poilu" between 1914 and 1918. He was in Verdun, the Chemin des Dames. He came back at home. Healthy. Without serious injury. Not amputated. Not mad. A miracle for this time. He died in 1978 of old age. His name was Ange Marie Le Ray. My great-grandfather. I will learn to play this music in piano version in his honor and that of all the comrades of the time.

I had three ancestors in the war two French and one british. 1. Died at the Marne in the very beginning. He sent coded letters back from the front to his family, but none of us have ever been able to crack it even after all this time :( 2. The brit survived the war, became a fisherman. 3. The last poor bastard was there from 1915-1918 survived the war and died of the spanish flu less than a month after being released.
