The Best Movies Ever Made (Top 40) (Greatest Films Of All Time)

10842 ratings | 3195576 views
In my opinion: these are really the best 40 movies ever made!!! Unfortunately I forgot to mention some movies like INTO THE WILD, LIFE OF PI or SHUTTER ISLAND (or INTERSTELLAR cause it came out after I've created this video)... BUT: Movies like LORD OF THE RINGS, STAR WARS, FIGHT CLUB, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, 300, MAGNOLIA etc. or the whole old stuff like PSYCHO, CASABLANCA, CITIZEN KANE, 12 ANGRY MEN, THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY (entire Dollar-Trilogy),VERTIGO, CLOCKWORK ORANGE, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, THE KID, MODERN TIMES, THE GREAT DICTATOR, SEVEN SAMURAI, RAGING BULL, SHINING, JAWS, 2001 etc. etc. etc. most of them are great, even very great, of course!!! AND YES I've seen them all!!! But in my opinion, they can not be counted among the 40 best movies of all time only cause they are old, classic and have good ratings TODAY, most of them from people older than 60!!! Why am I emphasizing TODAY? Cause many of these todays "Big Classics" were nothing special at their time, some even have been hated and only many many years later and mostly after the death of the director they become classics!!! So what is the fault of the todays directors whose masterpieces came after the Hitchcocks, Kubricks & Co.?! Who can say what people gonna think about Nolan, Spielberg, Fincher, Cameron & Co. in 20, 30, 40 years (if they are even today legends)? Then their movies of the last years become classics! So what? In contrast to many of you, I have my own opinion and I'm not being influenced and impressed by the years and the todays status of a movie, what only additionally do manipulate and raise up the value and impression of it! And by the way... all the movies of my list have everywhere !!!extreme high!!! ratings too... you can check it yourself (for example at IMDb)!!! PS I'm not really a Kubrick, Lynch or Hitchcock fan! (AND YES I've watched many of their movies!) AND OFFENSIVE OR CRUDE COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED IMMEDIATELY!!! YOU CAN ALSO ARGUE AND CRITICIZE IN A DECENT WAY!!! And for the critics here are the IMDb (by far the most credible rating stage) ratings of my movies: Memento: 8,5 The Lion King: 8,5 Jurassic Park 8,1 The Exorcist: 8,0 The Last Samurai: 7,7 (lil bit underrated, could be an 8,0 as well!) The Elephant Man: 8,2 Cast Away: 7,7 (underrated, deserves minimum 8,2) Pulp Fiction: 9,0 Rain Man: 8,0 Inception 8,8 Se7en: 8,7 Good Will Hunting: 8,2 Million Dollar Baby: 8,1 Hachi: 8,2 Munich: 7,6 (extremely underrated - deserved minimum 8,4) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: 8,8 The Game: 7,8 (underrated - deserved minimum 8.4) Gran Torino: 8,2 American Beauty: 8,5 Avatar: 7,9 Léon: 8,6 Blood Diamond: 8,0 Terminator: 8,1 Terminator 2: 8,5 Indiana Jones: - Raiders Of The Lost Ark: 8,6 - Temple Of Doom: 7,6 (underrated - deserved minimum 8,0) - Last Crusade: 8,3 American History X: 8,6 The Pianist: 8,5 The Sixth Sense: 8,2 Life Is Beautiful: 8,6 Pan's Labyrinth: 8,3 (Lil' underrated - deserved minimum 8,6) Titanic: 7,7 (underrated - deserved minimum 8,4) The Shawshank Redemption: 9,3 The Godfather: 9,2 The Godfather Part II: 9,1 Alien: 8,5 Aliens: 8,4 Braveheart: 8,4 (underrated - deserved minimum 8,8) The Matrix: 8,7 Forrest Gump: 8,8 Batman Begins: 8,3 The Dark Knight: 9,0 The Dark Knight Rises: 8,6 Gladiator: 8,5 (deserved 8,8) The Green Mile: 8,5 (deserved minimum 8,9) Schindler's List: 8,9 (deserved minimum 9,3)

Good news: well-edited, liked the inclusion of a few lines from the respective soundtracks. Bad news: Seriously? I'm honored to say that by the time I hit #10 I guessed correctly what #1 would be. How about "40 movies that titillated me or made me cry since I was born" ( even that would be a reach). Rather than put together a competing list, "Ever Made" includes 60's 50's 40's and dare I say even b4 then. Too many from those eras to include here. Also, how does a trilogy count as 1 movie? Speaking of which..no Lord of the Rings. Don't quit your day job.

I would put a list of “my” personal movies I consider the greatest of all time. Glad to see the 6th Sense was on this list. That was an outstanding film. ET, Citizen Kane, Field of Dreams, The Great Race, Casablanca, Star Wars, Lawrence of Arabia, Once Upon a Time in the West, Close Encounters if the Third Kind, Rudy, Hoosiers, Back to the Future Trilogy, Giant, ad many more.

This are all great movies but there are best of the best. I love cinema and it is always amazes me how brilliant the movie Directors their imagination on bringing the story into reality, the costume designers and the actors. It's not about new movies it is about movies of all time. For me on the Best movies of all time are: Gone with the wind- The Godfather - Ralph Les oiseaux se cachent pour mourir - The Gladiator - The Virgin Queen( Kate blanchette) - Resident evil - Terminator - Jurassic park indeed what an imagination and creativity! - The Titanic - Anna Karenina ( the last one with Keira Kneightley) - Lord of rings - Cleopatra - The house of flying daggers
John Hill (18 days ago)
I dont agree with it, but nicely put together. As far as pure entertainment value, not on the list are: Saving Private Ryan, Life, Silence of the Lambs, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Shane, 12 Angry Men, Dr. Strangelove, Lawrence of Arabia, Inception, Inside Out, Back to the Future, Fargo, Ballad of Buster Scruggs, The Shining. Best underrated: April 9th, Flame & Citroen, Apocalypto, District 9, Drive, The Place Beyond the Pines, The Missing, Moon, Tron.

As a huge filmbuff here's another great list of film's never mentioned in this video... scroll down... Before I give my list let me first say, I already seen and own most of the films listed here plus more... I think it's only about five or six on your list I don't own... the problem is... there's so many other great movies that stops me from agreeing with your list 100%. Now here's my list of 40 other films never listed in which some I believe are even greater than some your listed. How could these not also be on the list of greatest movies ever made??? 40) Basketball Diaries 39) Slumdog Millionaire 38) Higher Learning 36) The Fight Club 35) V for Vendetta 34) The Wizard of Oz 33) Star Wars four five and six 32) Uncle Tom's Cabin 31) Predestination 30) The Good The Bad & The Ugly 29) The Toy Story 28) Poltergeist part 1 and 2 27) The Taxi Driver 26) Apocalypse Now 25) Caligula 24) 300 23) Catch me if you can 22) Wolf of Wall Street 21) Kill Bill 20) The Usual Suspect 19) Rocky 18) The Color Purple 17) Psycho 16) Texas Chainsaw Massacre 15) Malcolm X 14) The Incredibles 13) Nightmare Before Christmas 12) Singing in the Rain 11) Back to the Future 1 and 2 10) The Dark Crystal 9) The Labyrinth 8) Tron 7) Scarface 6) The Goodfellas 5) Who framed Rodger rabbit 4) The Last Emperor 3) Sin City 2) Full Metal Jacket (Honorable Mentions: Casablanca ET Django Bill & Ted The Abyst Snatch American me Menace to Society Run Lola Run American Pop Lord of the Rings Jaws) 1) Once Upon a Time in America

Video should be titled top 40 greatest movies ever made in your opinion oh, because this is not everybody's opinion. Although I agree with some of your choices, where is other great movies like Gone with the Wind, Ben-Hur or, the Ten Commandments or, The Wizard of Oz you didn't even include Star Wars and that started a phenomenon.

Today, the Zionists spin the word "Nazi" to distance themselves from "NAZI" an acronym formed by combining two groups, the National Socialist Zionists with the Frankist Zionists, which became the NAtional ZIonists. Jewdaism, this religion represented less than 0.70% of the German population (about 505,000 people), but controlled more than 75% of the German Infrastructure (Government, Banking, Trade, Media, Theaters, Railroad, Shipping, Metals, Property, etc). 24 March 1933 "Judea Declares War on Germany" 25 August 1933 The “Haavara” or “Transfer” agreement was signed by the German Government and the NAZI's, this broke the Zionist policy against their "German goods boycott", and provided for, mostly orthodox Jews, to be emigrated into the Palestine Jewish Colonization Association (PICA) under the directorship of James Armand de Rothschild. History 1933 - 1941 o German Army, responsible for recovering it's land and citizens annexed by the Treaty of Versailles. o Zionist Jew (NAZI), responsible for staging and immigration of Jews into the new Zionist State within the region of Palestine. o British government, controlled Palestine and were paid a service fee for each Jew immigrated into the Zionist State. "Between 1933 and 1936 more than 370,000 Jews arrived in Palestine, increasing the Jewish population to 27%, and bringing about a significant deterioration in relations between Palestinian Arabs and Jews." ~ Krämer, 2008, pp. 239–240.

Right, Probably better titled as 40 films and franchises from the last 45 years. Complete ignorance of films made between 1910 and 1972. Citizen Kane? Best years of our lives? The General (still one of the funnest movies ever made even if it is silent)? As for franchises, The Thin Man (Nick and Nora)? No need to subscribe here

Best movies of all time, stand the test of time. Absurd list not to include Gone with the Wind, and Casablanca. Your bias is evident in the era of your movie picks. Also no Wizard of Oz. Like someone mentioned earlier you need to watch Turner Classic Movies. Movies made in the 1930's are still classics to this DAY. Also no It's a Wonderful Life. This is a list put together by someone probably no more than 35 years old. Not a good list of best movies at all.
