No honourable mentions? Vic Vega-Reservoir Dogs Richie Gecko-From Dusk Till Dawn Jack Torrance-The Shining Anton Chigurh-No Country for Old Men Mickey And Mallory Knox-Natural Born Killers Seriously??

I always appreciated Andy Robinson as scorpio in dirty harry. The character was not a cliche' 70s psycho...Robinson was a Fulbright scholar. The khaki pants made him more like a crazed Berkley student

This list lost all credibility due to the fact that it is missing the best psychopath of all time: ANTON CHIGURH
Elijah Tyson (22 days ago)
Joker is worse :D

Norman Bates is still no. 1. Movie goers will sympathise with child abuse over sadism every time. Not many of your viewers have read Hannibal Lechters back story (eating your sister?/!?) but we all watch the movies. So based on film only...Norman wins.
Potato Times (23 days ago)
Norman bates yay
Jack Nicholson ://///

Heathe Ledgers joker, one of the all time best movie characters ever, possibly the best movie villain of all time, only got number 4. This is why I hate Watchmojo
Gabriel Andrus (25 days ago)
Well... the only REAL psychopath on this list is Hannibal lecter.
George Bray (26 days ago)
Lone Wolf (29 days ago)
Norman Bates is my favorite. Tbh, he's not really a psychopath. It's more like he has a personality disorder.

Claude Raines as the title character in "The Invisible Man" (1933): after experimenting with a substance to make himself invisible, a scientist soon discovers that a side-effect of the potion is to make him a cold-hearted mass and serial murderer. He kills Kemp, his past collaborator, and sends a train off the rails, killing over 200 people, just for the hell of it, among other crimes. This is a science fiction villain, so he may qualify as not quite "human." But he can't be called supernatural in any real sense.

My favorite is Idi Amin (forest whitaker) on the last king of Scotland.  There is no worse psycho than a powerful psycho politician.    P.S.  Joker should NOT be on the list, it's a superheroe movie,  all villains are psychos.  even superheroes are psychos.  who risks his life for a stranger?
Binjallaf Alremaithi (1 month ago)
Dear WatchMojo, actually the message behind "A Clockwork Orange"'s antagonist/protagonist (which ever you may refer to him, I like to see him as both TBH) was that he was rehabilitated by the doctor. But! His history with the towns folk that remember him had a permanent image of his viscous past that never wanted to go away, which never allowed him to repent fully for what he did. Which drove him to conclude that no matter what he did, he will not be able to create his clean and cured future in society which then made him go back to his insane behavior. (at least that's one way to look at it.) Many years later I hope this message reaches.

I would date Patrick Bateman, he would probs kill me but... oh man. 😍 Also I fucking love the Joker❤️🃏
Malviina Palsa (1 month ago)
I personally think the Joker should be first, I thinks he's the most iconic villain ever because he's psychologically so complex, he's not only a psychopath, he's so much more😍❤️

I've seen a lot of the lists and don't really complain because ranking is subjective but omissions like the shining and no country for old men are quite bad.

For me, the best are...Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) and The Joker (Heath Ledger, obviously). Not in any particular order.
Luke Sterling (1 month ago)
I think Alex should have been higher on the list, and Hannibal Lecter should have been lower.
KevinGame3 (1 month ago)
Typical Hollywood. Inserting "God" into every psychopath's character to make it seem intellectually dangerous. Real people who believe in God are like Rachel Scott of Columbine who was killed for her faith, OK?

Oh and the case of Norman Bates, if he did in fact exist, would be fascinating and terrifying to the nurse in me.
