Love the story of what Sir Laurence allegedly said to Hoffman on the set of the Marathon Man , Hoffman being...All Method ..stayed up for a couple of days and did everything he could to get into character so to look as shagged out as possible was running up and down a corridor for that extra Shagged out dishevelled look , on seeing this Sir L O said " My dear boy why don't you try..... acting" .... .Brilliant, top class actor ...

Uhmm how bout Alan Rickman was ranked on top 100 film villains 2x bc of his role as Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves? But only ranked @ #9? And Gary Oldman isn't even top 5? 6th place?? And no Sean Connery..FIRST fxxkn JAMES BOND! And Richard Burton? Jeremy Irons? This list just sucks.

This list really should have been split into at least 3 by generation. I don't know what's more ridiculous - omitting Ralph Fiennes and Benedict Cumberbatch or placing Anthony Hopkins over Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine over Cary Grant. Also, Alan Rickman no. 9?!
Wolfgang Altenstrasser (1 month ago)
Also missing Sir Peter Ustinov
Reed Mack (1 month ago)

Daniel Day Lewis??? Really?? You have GOT to be kidding. You picked him over the likes of O'Toole and Grant? And where is Richard Harris? Derek Jacobi? Richard Burton? What a shitty list!

This must be the worst top 10 ever... No Patrick Steward and no Sean Connery? Not even in the honourable mentions? That's just laughable if it didn't already make you cry
Nino Boccanfuso (1 month ago)
I Don't agree with your top 10 - its very poor - only Anthony Hopkins and Michael Caine deserve to be in the top 10. Rex Harrison, Sean Connery, Richard Burton, Laurence Olivier, Alan Rickman, Colin Firth, Christopher Lee, and John Hurt would be in my TOP 10 in no particular order..

No mention of Sir Ian Richardson?? Sir Alec Guiness as Honorable Mention and not in the top 5? No one in the whole genre of Spydom and Espionage was/is better than George Smiley. Christian Bale as Honorable Mention? Also a most incredible actor that should be in the top 10. Ian Bannen is another marvelous British actor who should at least be an Honorable Mention. Tom Hardy is fantastic. No Richard Burton? No Laurence Olivier? No John Gielgud?
Monique O. (1 month ago)
Daniel day lewis
Mac Breck (1 month ago)
Alec Guinness an Honorable Mention? No, he should be in the top three. Christian Bale shouldn't even be in this video.

Olivier should really be number one but then there’s so many gaping omissions from this list it’s ridiculous.
Mongo Boogie (1 month ago)
If Carry Grant is number 10 then I’d like to see who’s number one!!
BrideOfSnape (1 month ago)
Olivier was so bizarrely sexy as Richard III. I always liked him best as a villain. He just seemed so bored playing nice guys. In fact, I think he wanted to make Heathcliff a LOT rougher, but the censors of the day wouldn't allow it.
BrideOfSnape (1 month ago)
NO SIR RICHARD BURTON WHAT WHAT WHAAAAAAT??????? More honorable mentions: Leslie Howard Noel Coward James Mason Sean Connery Jeremy Irons Michael Redgrave Alan Bates Albert Finney Dirk Bogarde Patrick McGoohan David Niven Kenneth Branagh Ronald Colman Claude Rains Ray Milland Peter Finch, John Gielgud, and Rex Fucking Harrison, come ON you guys! And some great character actors deserve a mention or perhaps a top ten of their own: Richard Attenborough David Warner Charles Laughton Basil Rathbone Patrick Macnee The utterly mad Oliver Reed Peter Cushing! Timothy Dalton John Hurt George Sanders Ben Kingsley Malcolm McDowell Patrick Stewart Stanley Holloway The wonderful Bob Hoskins, c'mon Ralph Richardson, the genius Shakespearian actor with a face, as one critic put it, "like a sanctified potato" As for the top ten.... Remove Chaplin. He was a towering figure of cinema, a brilliant comic performer, writer and director, but not, strictly speaking, a dramatic actor. Put him in the HMs, with a special appreciation for his unique contributions. Move Day-Lewis to his place. He's a great actor, but very mannered. Put Sir Richard Burton in the top spot, and move Alan Rickman WAY WAY WAY the fuck up. I think he deserves the second or third slot, frankly. Say Burton, Hopkins, Rickman. In any case, it's certainly a crime to include O'Toole and leave Burton out. I'm sure O'Toole himself would've objected. Given that most of the greatest actors of all time are British, honestly, I think you should've done a top 15 or 20. Fiennes, Connery, Gielgud, Finch, Harrison, Hurt (for The Elephant Man if nothing else, one of the greatest cinematic performances ever), and Charles Laughton all deserve top status.

Alan Rickman should by far be number one. Kick Charlie Chapman off the list entirely, as well as Daniel Day Lewis. Liam Neeson should be on as well.
