Best Photoshop video I've ever seen. Clear instructions, not to fast to see where you click & great to have closed caption too. Thanks so much Justin!

This is a great tutorial Justin! How do I simply join two photos together on a canvas? I don't know what size they are, but I don't want to resize them to fit a smaller canvas or look to awkward in a canvas that is oversized. Is it possible to import two photos and stick them together on the same canvas and the canvas creates according to the size of the photos imported (instead of creating a canvas first then adjusting the size of the photos)?
Justin Odisho (2 years ago)
Sure there are many ways to do it, feel free to reach out with any questions. Thanks!
Valerie Malla (2 years ago)
Thx Justin I'll try that next time. Because I was short on time what I did was went into "Image - image size", got the size of one, then changed the size of the other in the same way, so they would be even (one ended up being wider otherwise it would have been distorted, but that turned out ok). Then I created my canvas by adding the widths of the 2 photos (making sure they were all measured in the same way i.e. px or cm) together, and the heights were the same. After that I followed your tutorial for making the photos fit -- it was a bit frustrating, but self-help + help from YT tutorials really made it easier!! Thanks again :)
Justin Odisho (2 years ago)
+Valerie Malla when you drag the photos onto a canvas you can then use the crop tool to expand the canvas to fit
Fred Johnston (2 years ago)
FINALLY... a tutorial with person talking (no stupid useless music in background, etc)... and you know what you're doing, and explain it simply!... thanks!

Just used this in cc, a few slight differences, but was easy to overcome thanks to the help in this tutorial, thanks a lot for making the subject so understandable
Fred Johnston (2 years ago)
True, just the first section about selecting the shape layer and the settings area... threw me for a bit... thanks!
Justin Odisho (2 years ago)
It's really the same technique however I may revisit a similar concept for a new tutorial. Thanks!
Fred Johnston (2 years ago)
Could you do it for CC?  That would be awesome...
Kermand0 (2 years ago)
This was incredibly helpful. Thanks a lot man. :-)

What if you want to create a collage of just one row of 3 to 5 photos?
Okey Okafor (2 years ago)
Justin Odisho (2 years ago)
You just have to create a canvas size that is wider than it is tall for whatever size row you want.

Unrelated to this video... Is there a way to crop a picture without changing the size of it? Does that make sense? Like I want to keep a picture a 5x7 but want to crop it too. Thanks!

I have to make a collage and I am not very skilled with PS even though I have Cs5.  I watched your tutorial and it is exactly what I want to do, but would like to do 8 instead of 9.  The type is so small and it moved quickly.  Can I get printed instructions -- I just can't follow all of the steps.  Thank you
Cris West (3 years ago)
Very helpful tutorial. Thank you loads! what do i need to change to make it a 16 grid collage? Also, if i want to print the grid on on poster size like 24x36 what do i do to ensure quality of images? Thanks!
Patrycja Nosek (4 years ago)
Hi. I wanted to create a collage 26,7cmx26,7cm. The problem is the quality of the pics after putting them into the collage. Although I used pictures in jpg 4080 × 2720px and set the collage to 300dpi after developing the collage it showed pixels :( Can you help me solve the problem? I really wanted to create the collages for Christmas presents.
darktrish1323 (4 years ago)
+Justthisgood I am saving it in HQ. Still each individual picture looses its quality :( creating the collage following your instructions wasnt difficult but not knowing PS makes it not easy to explain what I mean ;)

simply eye opening! thank you so so much, normally i would be fighting against layers and borders which overlapped, didnt fit properly, or images which seemed to just not fit together, with this technique i spent all of 10 mins to make my first and it wasn't even a rigid 9 grid, with this technique i can create the sorts of grids i wanted all along!!! my only gripe is how the images are cropped slightly due to the sizing, however after some practice im sure i'll figure something out for that :D
John J McAssey (5 years ago)
To much manual work automating something like that is much better. I created Photoshop Scripts to automate collages like that. Using Collage templates psd files which are easy to create using four simple rules. For Documentation and Examples do a google search on "Photo Collage Toolkit" with the quote marks at mouseprints.
TheSteiny007 (5 years ago)
Great tutorial, thanks. I'm using V 7 - I use Transform Ctrl +T to resize the photo, but it looks a little stretched or distorted? - how do you stop this?

Great use of clipping mask; most people only use it to punch a picture through some text; this is a more practical use. Thanks for the great video. I like to add b/w adjustment layers and clip them to random squares in the collage for a pretty cool effect.
kwan jia xian (5 years ago)
how do u make the line go away?

command key is the equivalent of CTRL key. for those who doesn't know. if you are a beginner in PhSh, this is gonna be difficult for you, but you will prefer to use hotkeys in the future. it's all about practising
Isaac Maldonado (5 years ago)
Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question. When I'm creating the border around all the images, a few of them on the outer edges don't get a border created around them. Thoughts?
MayPaintingPixels (5 years ago)
Hey great video, Quick question though. It seems to be pixelating my imagery, they are TIFF files but it this just because its only a 900x900px square? If i made it bigger would it not pixelate? Thanks Justthisgood x
