If Per "Dead Ohlin" from Mayhem isnt on here then watch lost their mojo. RIP On 8 April 1991, while left alone in the house,[8] Dead slit his wrists and throat with a knife and then shot himself in the forehead with a shotgun.[2] He left a brief suicide note which started by saying, "Excuse the blood...".[3][4][5] The body was found by Euronymous, who had to climb through an open window as the doors were locked and there were no other keys to the house.[8][2][21] Before calling the police, he allegedly went to a shop and bought a disposable camera with which he photographed the body, after re-arranging some items.[8][2][21] In time, rumors spread that Euronymous had made a stew with bits of Dead's brain and had made necklaces with bits of his skull.[8][22] The band later denied the former rumor, but confirmed that the latter was true.[22] Moreover, Euronymous claimed to have given these necklaces to musicians he deemed worthy,[23] which was confirmed by several other members of the scene, like Bård 'Faust' Eithun,[24] Metalion,[25] and Morgan Håkansson.[26

pantera?..... watchmojo sucks lelelelel
ChetXBuck (3 days ago)
Beatles should be #1 as their breakup was the biggest in history. Still do blame Yoko to a degree. Eagles and Fleetwood Mac were also big breakups. All of these overshadow the rather dull and convoluted complications of tier 3 bands like Smashing Pumpkins. Huge Pink Floyd also worthy for being bitter, and The Kinks were almost as bitter as Oasis. The Police were less bitter, but still a big and sad breakup. Simon and Garfunkle a bad one, both missing. Your #1, Oasis were absurd. Most folks can name 1-2 of their songs today vs. 10-20 of the other bands. Not sure they deserve this much credit. What about one of the top-selling bands of all time, Journey? You missed a lot here guys.

Uhh, Linkin Park was one of these messy break ups too, Chester hung himself..
Plasma Teardrop (2 days ago)
That's not exactly a messy break up

Why is the farros v. Paramore not on this list
Larry Kerrigan (5 days ago)
when N.W.A first formed they had an verbal agreement between each other but then easy E brought a Lawyer in witch the rest of them disagreed with and that's when shirt hit the fan
Brian Ruberg (5 days ago)
Where’s Pantera and how is it not number 1!!!??
Gary Hardman (6 days ago)
I thought this was about significant band break ups. To be honest, I didn't make it past the first 'band' NWA. Rap 'music' can be condensed into some idiot, with an agenda, thinking he (or she, but usually he) can publicise their lyrics, without bothering to write any music.
Riley Tech (6 days ago)
Forgot to mention the Eagles second breakup. Frey and Henley fired Felder so they could make more money
Shannon McDowell (6 days ago)
Interesting list, and I'm sure all viewers could come up with a list of their own. I was surprised to see Blondie at the beginning but not listed elsewhere in the video - I remember reading that after Gary Valentine's departure the band Blondie was struggling with both drugs and conflicting egos, and one member said he felt as if they had broken up after every album and was always surprised to find himself back in the studio with the other members.

Glenn Fray?
Ferry Rudolph (6 days ago)
Why Oasis? Yeah it was messy but who cares? 😆
Roger Pham (4 days ago)
I care Oasis was my band. They should come back and make music.
Paul Thompson (6 days ago)
LED ZEPPLIN? Good list. Also, Oasis just was not even close to being as big as the rest, thus should have at end of the list, or better yet an honorable mention. Beatles or Van Halen better candidates for number 1 ... The Beatles break up had the greatest impact on the entire world.
Paolo Castillo (6 days ago)
Uh Sonic Youth?
Samuel Walsh (7 days ago)
Misfits and Pantera should at least be HMs
Gabriel Schroll (7 days ago)
I'm a huge Oasis fan, but a bigger breakup than The Beatles? Not even close. I'm surprised One Direction didn't make the cut <sarcasm>
Beth Cheesebrough (7 days ago)
Oasis is #1??? Are you kidding me Mojo? This list was done by high school interns wasn't it?
Dru Blood (7 days ago)
Who the hell called oasis the next Beatles? Ha! That’s a fucking joke! Oasis sucks, they had like one hit song, where the Beatles turned out hit after hit. Whoever made that comparison knows nothing about music.
ZaMPATESTE (7 days ago)
Let me tell you guys about a very popular band in Chile, maybe the most important alt-rock band in the history of chilean music, "Los prisioneros" (The prisoners). At the highest of their career, the guitarist found his wife in his own bed with the leader and songwriter. He even composed a very successful song inspired in this woman. Imagine the guitarist, who was also the back-up vocalist, singing a song about the band leader fucking his own wife. Yeah, there was two splits that night.
dudecollar (7 days ago)
Thought creed should have been on this list after the wake of destruction scott stapp caused twice then he screwed art of anarchy.

How about a video regarding bands that defied odds and overcame whatever terrible situations was going on? Or is that a bit complex for watchmojo?
just a g Gram (8 days ago)
how is Nirvana not the top pick lmao, WatchMojo is irreverent
Cult_ (8 days ago)
just a g Gram Why would it be, Kurt Cobain just killed himself and the band refused to continue Nirvana. That’s literally it.
dadams6593 (8 days ago)
Oasis? Are you kidding? The largest band ever, The Beatles only makes it to #5. I think you intentionally do this to have more people comment. Ridiculous.
Hasan Askari (1 day ago)
Fuck me read the title it’s not about the talent or the largest it’s the messiest break up and oasis break up was quite bad I think they had some backstage fights but oasis are still a great band take nothing away from them and being a knock off Beatles is not so bad eh considering they are the biggest band to grace the planet
Ferry Rudolph (6 days ago)
Oasis is just a Beatles knock-off.
Kevin Bowen (9 days ago)
Berlin.
Pernell Brodie (9 days ago)
Everyone knows that George Harrison killed Paul McCartney in a LSD fueled rage and they replaced him with a doppelganger.

Watch mojo has the worst fact checkers ever.
Pulsar Stargrave (9 days ago)
I guess SIMON & GARFUNKEL don't count as a "band"?
V-G-Z (10 days ago)
The Everly Brothers should be in the top 5. Phil Everly smashing his guitar and ending the act on stage in 1973 after Don performing drunk and messing up the lyrics. They didn´t talk to each other for 10 years. Heavy tensions were visible in ther 1970´s performances. They lived seperate lives again in the 90´s, and when they performed with Simon and Garfunkel in 2003, they haven´t seen each other in 3 years until right before the concert.
CoolSuperBlitz (10 days ago)
Kajagoogoo suffered the same fate. Limahl got fired from the band and for the next two years until 1985, the band became obsolete.
Jorge Soler (10 days ago)
ross caaaan!!
Zachle Mentor (10 days ago)
I didn't even bother to watch from numbers 10 to 2 and yet I knew the Oasis was gonna be number 1.
DryBones271 (10 days ago)
Slash and another band member (I forgot his name) started a new band, Velvet Revolver.
The Dude (8 days ago)
It was Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilotes. Unfortunately that band is no more because of the death of Scott.
John Wozniak (10 days ago)
Mardi Gras was a hot mess. Todd in the Shadows covered that pretty well on Trainwreckords, though.
heyitsadam (10 days ago)
KISS doesn’t make the list??
Ross MacPherson (10 days ago)
Creedence Clearwater Revival deserves a higher spot. After their breakup, the record label Fantasy Records sued John Fogerty with his former band members siding with the record company owner. Even his own brother sided with him and when he died, john refused to play at his funeral. When John released his solo album, he slandered Saul Zaentz (the company owner) and was sued for that too. John was even sued because he sounded too much like himself as his Creedence songs were owner by Fantasy Records. When CCR was finally inducted into the hall of fame, John refused to play with his fellow band members and instead formed a band of his own to sing some Creedence classics with the likes of Bruce Springsteen etc.

9:51 do you mean Steven
ADHeroD (11 days ago)
I would of thought ABBA would of been on the list... considering they broke up before then end of a show and sent the lead singer out by herself to perform for the crowd
barry lucas (11 days ago)
.......no.......
emar 5207 (11 days ago)
I'm so glad that *The Police* was a honorable mention. 😅
Cody Anderson (11 days ago)
Tom Fogerty died from AIDS in 1990. It is important to mention that.
DR Evil (11 days ago)
the kinks the who(moon bought an axe in a hotel looking for daltry, pete townsend smashed daltry with a guitar and got punched out) kiss the verve sex pistols
Michael Pate (11 days ago)
Wait, wait, wait. Glenn who? Glenn fucking FRAY? Ugh. Next, the rest of the band will be comprised of Tomothy B. Smythe, Don Folder, Del Heinlay, and Joan Welsh. Glenn Frey. As in FRY. Like Philip J. Fry, but with an "e" in the middle. Still pronounced the same. Do you guys not bother to find this kind of stuff out before you make a video?
Charlton Mendoza (11 days ago)
Couldn't help but notice that Breaking Benjamin isn't on this list
Troy Gibbons (11 days ago)
Radio Kaos is a fucken cool album!!!
Ryan Leu (11 days ago)
Completely agree with number 1 being Oasis. They still throw insults over social media to each other to this day. Would have liked to see them
Royale With Cheese (11 days ago)

Mayhem?
THE SITE (12 days ago)
As a huge Oasis fan, even I don't think they are the messiest break up ever
Jennifer Schillig (12 days ago)
It's such a shame...if it hadn't been for that whole mess with their business Apple and all the financial and legal entanglements, the Beatles' breakup could simply have been a matter of, "okay, we'll take an indefinite break and do solo work, if we feel like playing together again, fine, if not, no hard feelings, we're still mates."
eric wharton (12 days ago)
1) Oasis could've been even bigger than they were had Liam and Noel not had their heads up their asses 2) George Harrison had every right to feel confined in the Beatles, he was a criminally underrated songwriter; even compared to John and Paul
Sunny Hermanson (12 days ago)
The narrator clearly knows zip about the Eagles. Glen "Fray"? C'mon

My band of White Horses fell into a mud-hole after breaking up. It was what they call a filthy story.
sniper666hell (12 days ago)
The Jimi Hendrix experience?
jimbo 2346 (12 days ago)
Hüsker Dü's was pretty messy, at least for a band that heavily influenced 90s rock music. The same could be said for the Pixies.
sexobscura (12 days ago)
*Looking at them on stage I thought Van Halen were LED ZEPPELIN for a moment, so then questioned, "what break up did they ever have..."*
sexobscura (10 days ago)
+ledzeppelin711 Thanks for that, although I am aware of Led Zeppelin's history. I was merely commenting on the *striking similarity* in appearance of Van Halen to Zeppelin
ledzeppelin711 (11 days ago)
John Bonhams death was the breakup. Weird since they had tons of reunions but basically they were still playing, just them being lazy and no longer writing original material, giving the fans a great show with their hit setlist but no new song material.
Sonja Adamson (12 days ago)
Bruh, Gilmour and Waters fucking HATED each other. If it weren't for their success' they would have killed each other in a recording studio a LONG time ago.
Nathan Brown (13 days ago)
Uhh... No mention of Lynyrd Skynyrd or Led Zeppelin? Skynyrd had one of the most tragic endings of all and lost one of the best songwriters of all time in Ronnie Van Zant. And Led Zeppelin was the beast of the 70s that couldn’t go on without arguably the best drummer of all time.
NWA was the best group of Hip hop
Very few famous groups mutually disbanded. Most break ups were more like disintegration.
Cigil Ajith Russell (13 days ago)
WatchMojo you guys suck big time! you didn't mention PanterA!!!
Eric McJilton (13 days ago)
Should've included ABBA.
Justin Bel (13 days ago)
Did they every made a biography about The Beatles?
FireGamez765 (14 days ago)
I was expecting when Metallica kicked out Dave because of drug abuse and then he created Megadeth
Roque (14 days ago)
Where is The Sex Pistols?!!!! they even have the most famous phrase about a last gig, only comparable to Lennon's: I" would like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we’ve passed the audition" Johnny Rotten: "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated? Good night!"
Denis Ordoñez (14 days ago)
I hoped ABBA as the number one.
yassin (14 days ago)
PANTERA ???? LOOL

Sebastian carbonel (14 days ago)
Red Hot Chili Peppers? When Frusciabte leaved The band in 1992 he refused to go On stage with them And then It he said that It Will be his las concert, then he enclosed himself in his house to Just take heroin. And Also Kiedis And Dave Navarro had a Fight when The Peppers told hin he was fired

Fabrício Lima (14 days ago)
Wait... No Pixies with Black Francis and Kim Deal public hatin' each other? No Simon & Garfunkel with Garfunkel saying "i creat a monster" about his former partner?
Lynyrd_ Skynyrd 06 (15 days ago)
Where is Pantera!? they had one messy damn breakup!!!!
GLHS592 (15 days ago)
Van Halen could have made this list twice.
Matthew Angel (15 days ago)
I'm surprised on one has mentioned Nightwish's firing of Tarja Turunen. That was ugly and unprofessional.
ImperatorMorbidosa (14 days ago)
Agree, they did that woman dirty and then did the same thing again with their second singer. Good for Tarja making a successful career for herself she seems much happier out of nightwish.
